    tomas, el diego...

How many abject performances from Pennant will it take for you to admit he's not good enough to play for Liverpool Football Club?

Until the end of the season? Two seasons?

Until the end of the season is fair enough, and I wouldn't advocate writing him off completely until then.

We're only delaying the inevitable, mind.

I think I might have to, I am not a big Pennant fan but he's been here basically 3-4 months and people want rid, I mean every little thing he does they give him abuse. I am just waiting for someone to see him brush his teeth with a eletric toothbrush so they can have a go at him for not using a normal one, that's how petty the abuse has got.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People were saying the same about Finnan not so long ago so let's just wait and see.

Fair point about Finnan, he was dog**** in his first season.

I will judge him after the season.

I haven't made up my mind yet, and I am willing to give him a proper chance.
I will have no problems saying he has been ****e if I feel that is the case when the season is over. I just think he is too harshly judged on here, and at the same time, the mistakes and loss of form of other players are just brushed aside.

In saying that it is inevitable, you have obviously made yours up.
Would you be able to change your opinion if he improved and did well?
It would be the best for LFC if that happen. Support the lad for a while more, mate. He is struggling and needs that to perform better. He has talent, but seems to lack mental toughness.

i wasnt necessarily criticising your view of pennant, but rather the comparison to Kuyt. There is none. Strikers and wingers have markedly different jobs to do.

Yes mate, I'm always desperate to be proved wrong in these such instances.

Remember the 30+ page thread on Pennant on KT, when we first heard we might be signing him? I was dead against it. Still am, but what sort of Liverpool supporter would I be if I wanted to be proved right?

I want him to turn into the new John Barnes and become a demon right winger.

The problem is, having seen him play in our league for a few years, I'd already made my mind up on his as a non LFC player. I've always thought he's **** and he's done nothing in a Red shirt to change my mind.

I'm still desperate for him to prove me wrong though. I would never dream of abusing him or getting on his back - although I feel I and all LFC fans are entitled to have a pop on here - so long as it's vaguely constructive. After all, this is what forums are for.

Just think if it was Pennant that made the back pass to set up the goal on Tuesday instead of Xabi the guy would have been lynched.

If he doesn't have mental toughness then he cannot and will succeed at a club primed to win things.

He's getting plenty of ball, plenty of opportunity, and doesn't have the ability or inclination to really drive to succeed - I believe it's an attitude problem and one which will not be changed.

Finnan might have had a poor first season, but it can be argued he'd come to LFC in what turned out to be GH's final 'difficult' season, in a team really struggling. We might not be having a great season this time around, but the team is in much better shape than in 2003.

Maybe so but let's remember that Xabi has done a lot of good things which more than outweigh the (inevitable) mistakes. At the moment, the same can't be said of Pennant. I hope in time it can be - whether I think it likely or not is not of great importance.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The quotes that Pennant has come out with regards to "making it" because he's joined LFC.

His attitude on the pitch as another.

I know we all should support players in red, but a line has to be drawn sometime, otherwise would we still be supporting Diouf if he played for us?!?

(I wasn't aware of his horrific myspace account..... )
