as long as we dont trade warnock i think for 500k-£1m he would a great buy. we have one right back who has EPL experience, and for that kind of money i'd snap him up, plus he'd only sit on the bench unless one of our 'regular' back 4 were injured.

name a better player that we could get for that price??

        Neill is average.

he was one of the best defenders at the WC mate......i hate the guy (and im aussie ) but he is a very good defender.

Im thinking Rafa wants to play 3 at the back, and use 2 attacking wingbacks....Neill would allow us to play that way, as he would be a very handy third CB.

all we would need then is Alves

The only reason Barca are after him is that Neeskens is the assistant manager now....he was Hiddinks assistant for Australia and must of liked what he saw of Neill. If it wasn't for that i would highly doubt they would even look at him

Scored the winner tonight, was cheered off by Blackburn fans, was given a round of applause by Mark Hughes as well.

              Liverpool and Blackburn swop
The January transfer window will open for a swop of players between Blackburn and Liverpool.

Blackburn will give Liverpool permission to sign Lucas Neill, who was just a blink away to become a Liverpool player in the summer, and reserve team defender Stephen Warnock will go the opposite way.

Warnock is a good flanker full back, but with the competition at Liverpool, things doesn't look easy, a move to Blackburn could suit the player that has a great potential.

If Lucas Neill will manage to grab a place in Liverpool's first team is a big question, but he would probably be closer to it than Warnock is.

Why would we give them Warnock? We're short of left sided defenders as it is.
