When Crouch is on top of his game, he is unstoppable (as seen against Arsenal and PSV ... Well, that period actually). But when he's out of form, it would be better if we played with only 10 men on the pitch ... No, wait a minute ... 9 men ... Also without Xabi Alonso

Only because he's played all the time. Crouch has had 67 minutes action all season which makes it pretty ****ing difficult to make a noteworthy contribution.Originally posted by kurtangle01 View PostXabi, even off form, has contributed more than Crouch.
Xabi had a very good game against Derby but he's been wank otherwise.
He's my favourite player (or was!) but his form is worrying me. He should be on the bench on Tueday and I'd leave him there against Birmingham too. Gerrard & Masher should get a run together. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Gerrard and Masher should be given a run together in the center.

I think as the bigger games come up this season, whether home or away, this will be the preferred CM partnership."I'm going to sine your pitty on the runny kine!"

I assume your not counting the two matches he's played in the CL qualifiers then?Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostOnly because he's played all the time. Crouch has had 67 minutes action all season which makes it pretty ****ing difficult to make a noteworthy contribution.

As I see it when we play a 'weakend' side a player like Crouch loses his effectiveness. He's not particularly mobile so is never gonna beat the slowers defenders for pace. He tends to play between the 18yrd tram lines so won't be seen dragging markers/defenders into the channels.
When we play a strong team with our so called 1st team stars then Crouch is more effective because the quality of service tends to be better so he doesn't need to work as hard for his chances.
To this end I think that Torres, Kuyt and on the little evidence I've seen of Voronin are better options purely because of their mobility, game intellingence etc.
It's gonna be tough for the big guy this season to get regular game time. A pity really as he is a good player but we now have, perhaps, better options."I'm going to sine your pitty on the runny kine!"
