I'm fairly certain that Klopp has Stewart above Lucas in the midfield pecking order.
Not something I agree with, but Stewart has had a very good pre-season, so let's see if he kicks on this year. We don't play with a DM anyway, so someone like Stewart is perfect for the role as their main job will be to come on late in games to add some fresh legs and solidity to the midfield.

How have you come to that conclusion?Originally posted by Harv View PostMaybe Klopp has suddenly realised that Kevin Bloody Stewart is absolutely awful and we simply can't rely on him to be our defensive mid through the season. Lucas is crap, but he's a far better footballer than Stewart. Plus he seems a great lad for team spirit. No point selling him for beans. You know Lucas can come in and produce a solid if unspectacular performance and anchor the side if we need to go defensive.
He's hardly played any games for us.

Jurgen Klopp has blocked Galatasaray's bid to sign Lucas from Liverpool.
Gala felt they had a deal in place to sign Lucas, who is Liverpool's longest-serving player, and were waiting for him to give them his decision.
But Klopp has vetoed the Brazilian midfielder's departure because he is worried it would have left him short because of his various injury concerns.
Gala's sporting director Levent Nazifoglu said: "We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva.
"We will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead."
Marko Grujic has been brought in and plays a similar position to Lucas, while the German also has Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and James Milner at his disposal.
But with Milner and Grujic doubtful for the opener with Arsenal, Klopp has pulled the plug on the deal.
The Brazilian midfielder almost moved to Turkey a year ago and was set to join Besiktas on loan before former boss Brendan Rodgers pulled the plug on the deal because of an injury crisis.

Stewart would be more a like for like replacement for Lucas than Brannagan from the limited scouting that I've done on them both with us. Would that be right DP?

I'd be sad to see him go, but he isn't getting games this year, and he's still got a few years left in him somewhere.
