Only reason I can see us accepting this is if Lucas has asked Klopp to leave, he kept hold of him this time last year didn't he? He hasn't broken into the team, he's been a good cover but he deserves to be starting somewhere.

It does leave us a bit short though, Gomez has yet to play a league game at CB has he? Maybe we can bring someone in on loan ourselves.

It would be weird the day he goes but he was a liability in midfield a lot of last season and now just seems to be considered a cover centre back, done ok there especially last season but I'd much rather Godmez got them minutes now.

Jurgen will live or die by his decisions, that's why he gets the big bucks! He's clearly seen enough of Joe to deem it a risk worth taking and as Chris says, Lucas hasn't been great and Gomez will never push on without minutes on the pitch.

Will be very pleased if that's the case. I really like Gomez and feel that Klopp wouldn't gamble on this. So if he's making the call on the basis we have Gomez then I take that as a sign he is progressing well in terms of fitness and ability.

Lucas leaving would make no sense to me. Having sold Allen I'd hate to sell on the only defensive mid we really have when we are pushing for title/ top four.
