He was great today, I love the guy but I did think that he wasn't capable of performances like that anymore.

His position is a difficult one he's still young enough to have a few good years as a regular perhaps in a slower league which he isn't going to get here, and part of me feels he needs to move on for his own good. But he's a perfect pro and you'd love to have him around and available when called on.

By the way he'll have been here for 10 years by the summer are there any plans for a testimonial for him?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I love the way he snaps into tackles. We really don't have a player who puts his body into challenges like Lucas other than maybe Can.

I think he will be captain against boro for his final appearance. I'm assuming he's off in the summer.

The guy is just such a professional, never moans just gets on with it. He is still capable of a great game here and there and obviously midfield is his position. I would love us to keep him here as a squad player next season but really and truly he should be looking for first team football elsewhere. I think he'd be amazing in Serie A

I'll be genuinely gutted if he leaves.

Surely a bit part role perhaps with a view to moving into the coaching set up? Though he is still quite young isnt he...

He also has played a big part in the likes of Coutinho and Firmino (and before them Suarez) settling so well in Merseyside.

He was superb on Sat, MotD did a little piece showing him covering in front of Lovren and Matip, he was a huge part of Lukaku not getting a kick, and Everton being lost in midfield. On top of that he is such a competitor as well, which totally belies his nice guy image.

He's only just turned 30 - he's easily got 2-3 season left in him at the top level.

Yeah, I may have jumped the gun with the coaching suggestion.

Serie A would be ideal for him although from what i've seen it's not as slow as it used to be. It certainly is more tactical. I get the feeling he'll do a Joe Allen, as long as he's well replaced... let's face it, we won't play Everton every week and he's not ideally suited to our pressing game.

He'd be great in the coaching setup, perhaps in the youth with Stevie or something?
