Inter Milan have stepped up their talks with Chelsea over taking £50m striker Fernando Torres on loan next season.
Chelsea have already decided to get rid of the former Liverpool forward, who has scored just 44 goals since his British record transfer from Anfield in 2011.
The 30-year-old still has over two years left on his £175,000-a-week contract, but as Standard Sport revealed earlier this week, Chelsea are willing to listen to offers over a permanent move or a loan deal.
Inter had already confirmed their interest in Torres and are now in negotiations over taking him on loan. However, they are not prepared to pay his salary in full and are hoping Chelsea will agree to pay some of his wages. link
haha, 175,000 a week on top of the 50MILL paid to LFC. #costly
Fernando Torres Wasn't Massively Rated by Liverpool Players, Says Danny Murphy
Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has revealed his old team-mates were "negative" about Fernando Torres' ability while the Spaniard romped through Premier League defences at Anfield.
Torres has failed to hit the heights of his Merseyside days since joining Chelsea for £50 million in 2011.
Murphy suggests that, now that the striker's unstoppable pace and power has dissipated, his technical side isn't good enough to overcome the burden of playing at Stamford Bridge—something his former team-mates acknowledged years ago. Murphy told Ian Cruise of talkSPORT:
I remember when he was doing well at Liverpool taking (sic) to a couple of the lads there and they were a bit negative about his technical ability and what he didn’t have, rather than what he did have, which was pace and power. But the rest of his game has never been perfect, far from it, in fact.
There was a spell at Liverpool when he was unplayable because of his power and his pace, but once he lost that and his confidence went he became reliant on his technical ability, which he’s not very good at – his hold up play, his passing, his decision making, which is terrible.
Murphy's comments intensify the spotlight on Chelsea's misfiring forward. Torres was dropped to the bench for the Blues' 3-1 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-German and failed to influence the game as a substitute on the hour mark.
Don't agree with you Danny - he may not have been the most 'technically able' but when he was on fire for us he was brilliant
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins
He was unbelievable for us and whilst I can kind of see where the questions about his technical competence are coming from, the irrefutable fact is that he was one of our greatest ever goalscorers. Should have stayed Nando, should have stayed son.

This is it,i'll repeat what i have said about Torres and that is his heart and soul is still in Liverpool[Anfield] and to this day he wishes he had never left

Sorry Danny but you're talking ****. No technical ability dan?

I've heard him a few times on talksport now and he does like to talk ****. As much as we hated Torres for leaving no one can deny he was by far he best striker in world football when with us.
We now have Suarez and Sturridge but it still pains me that we never got to see Suarez and Torres together.
Utter bollocks Murphy. Yeah losing pace has hampered him no doubt but he was brilliant technically, his first goal against Chelsea pretty much summed it up, left the defender for dead than the finish was brilliant.
Luis is a much better all round player but I don't think they was miles apart in their ability to finish, you always felt like both could score at any time.

Hold up play -7/10
Passing 9/10
Decision Making 9/10.
Murphy is talking out of his ass. Moreover his comments abut his pace too aren't that right to begin with.
He had pace but not real pace like Sterling/Walcott/Ronaldo. Sure he's quicker than Luis but he wasn't crazy fast and he never elied on pace alone to get his goals. His movement was very very good too.
