IIRC it was the knee injury that done Torres in.

          Did I misread that piece?

I thought Murphy's comments were prompted by the views of the guys that played with Torres so unless he made them up surely we have to accept that some of them didn't rate him on a technical level?

Who did he actually speak to? Surely only Carra and Gerrard would still be talking with Murphy? Maybe they are just talking in a post Torres/comparison to Suarez angle. Or maybe Murphy just got the wrong impression....

Or maybe Murphy is just talking ****e to get noticed?

Torres was world class when he was here bar his last season. Was a sensational player, lethal. His debut goal was brilliant. Also what about the one into the top corner v arsenal in the Champions League at Anfield?

He ****ed up. Was wrongly advised. Chelsea was never the right club for him. But people should stop rewriting history. When we had him he was up there as one of the best strikers in world football

That debut goal will forever be my favourite Torres goal. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. Different times but I loved the Spanish influence we had in that era.

That last season he looked so shot staying would not have made a difference.

I was quite happy when we sold him, just annoyed he went to that scum.

From what I remember he scored a few goals in the 4 to 6 weeks before the move and looked like he was finding form again.

I think he was shocked at the storm and hatred that came his way after the move and that killed him.

The last 18 months he played for us he was no where near as prolific and it clearly was a good decision to sell. Remember his form in the World Cup? I think that finished him especially as he did himself more damage as he clearly wasn't fit to play.

For some reason it reminds me of when Collymore played and just had a go at the opposition defence with a powerful run and a great shot.

Perhaps it's because I was younger and football had more magic about it?

Pretty sure he was still getting a goal every other game even when he was "****" for us- nowhere near as good as the first 3 years or so, but way, way better than at the Chavs.
