Scored the winning penalty in the Champions League. I actually found my 2009 Torres jersey in the wardrobe the other day and between his move to Atletico and his upcoming appearance in the charity match, I've completely forgiven him. I only wish Chelsea were still in the CL just so Torres can score the goal to knock them out to wipe the slate clean.

In his controversial book, Jerzy Dudek does not just reveal all about the 'mole' saga in the Real Madrid dressing room during Mourinho's time as manager[/B].
The Pole also writes how Iker Casillas, after hearing that Torres had signed for Chelsea, commented: "He's the most overvalued player in Spanish football".
Dudek also assures that "Messi is false and provocative" and that Guardiola's Barça "lived to provoke".
On Raúl and Ronaldo, he said: "They are egocentric, very competitive and born winners. They would prefer that their team won 2-1 with them being the scorer of both goals, rather than a 5-0 victory from goals scored by their teammates"
If Casillas had said it when FT had been at the Chavs for a season or two I think most would agree, but when he joined them having torn it up playing for us it seems a bit odd.

Torres: Liverpool portrayed me as a traitor and I felt betrayed
Former Reds striker lifts the lid on £50m departure to Chelsea in new book
Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres believes he was portrayed as a “traitor” following his controversial departure to Chelsea five years ago.
And the Spaniard says he feels “betrayed” by those in power at Anfield at the time, not least when it emerged publicly the player had “verbally requested” to leave the club.
Torres has spoken candidly about events leading to his British record £50million move to Stamford Bridge in January 2011 in a new book by Simon Hughes entitled “Ring of Fire: Liverpool FC into the 21st Century – the players’ stories”.
The striker details how he had spoken with managing director Christian Purslow in the summer of 2010 and later Damien Comolli after the Frenchman’s appointment as director of football in the November.
Torres wanted to know if he would be sold because of the club’s ongoing financial problems but was told by Purslow the players would need to stay for Liverpool’s value to remain high ahead of a possible takeover.
His frustration was heightened by Javier Mascherano being sold to Barcelona shortly after the meeting with Purslow.
New England Sports Ventures (later to become Fenway Sports Group) bought Liverpool and initiated a new structure with first Comolli’s arrival and then the appointment of Kenny Dalglish in place of the sacked Roy Hodgson.
“Comolli told me that the new owners (FSG), they had an idea of how to spend their investment,” says Torres.
“They wanted to bring in young players, to build something new. I was thinking to myself, this takes time to work. It takes two, three, four, maybe even 10 years.
“I didn’t have that time. I was 27 years old. I did not have time to wait. I wanted to win. Here we are five years later and they are still trying to build – around the same position in the league as when I left.”
Though Torres admits of his unhappiness and raising the possibility of leaving was discussed during a meeting with Dalglish, the conversation only happened after Liverpool had started negotiating privately with Chelsea.
And once the player’s willingness to consider leaving become public, he thinks a leak from the club “changed the view of everybody, including myself”.
“It was presented as if I was a traitor,” says Torres. “It was not like this in the discussion(s).
“Liverpool could not admit they were doing something wrong with the whole team. They had to find a guilty one.”What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Fernando Torres reveals Steven Gerrard told him to leave Liverpool FC
Former Liverpool FC striker Fernando Torres has claimed he left Anfield on the advice of club captain Steven Gerrard.
Torres spent three and a half seasons on Merseyside, scoring 81 goals – but would move to Chelsea in January 2011 in a controversial £50m move.
His decision ruined his relationship with many Reds fans, although he was forgiven by the crowd when selected as part of Gerrard’s team at the All-Star Game in March.
But Torres, now at Atletico Madrid, has revealed it was Gerrard who told him to leave the club when Chelsea came calling.
Torres said: “He talked with me a lot and even when it was said I was leaving [Liverpool] he said: ‘think about yourself and do what’s best for you because you’ve seen how people are leaving and it’s time. You have nothing to prove’.
“He changed my way of seeing things and showed me that I could get much higher than what I had always thought. I’ll never find a team mate like him, I’m sure.”
The 31-year-old has also backed Gerrard to be a success in Major League Soccer when he joins LA Galaxy in July.
“Of all the great players I’ve played alongside he is the best and I still think he has a lot to offer.,” added Torres.
“Your body slows down as you get older but the technical ability still remains. The MLS is a much slower pace than England so I expect him to be very successful over there.”What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Two sides to every story obviously and people/players need to be selfish sometimes.
I dont blame him for wanting to leave for those reasons, and its a bit of a ****house thing to do from the club to make him look like the bad guy. It was a change in philosophy, if that happened in my company I would probably think twice about my position, especially if I was a high value person.
Was gutted that he left, but him essentially downing tools made it easier to not care when he did.*Except Michael, who died.

I went to the Gerrard testimonial game where Torres came out for the second half. He looked really nervous and tentative, and ran around erratically like he was trying to prove something. Then, later in the half something happened and the Kop started singing "Fernando Torres Liverpool's Number 9" - he stopped, put his hand to his eyes and clapped the Kop, like he couldn't believe what he was hearing. I swear that had an effect on him, because his club form picked up after that. It was like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

Yep I didn't agree with his attitude but the whole Purslow/Hodgson combo took him over the edge... ****ing shamblesOriginally posted by Alex View PostTwo sides to every story obviously and people/players need to be selfish sometimes.
