Torres was great. It's a fair point that he reached and sustained that peak in one team and in one system (I'm not convinced it was all down to Gerrard but, even if it were, plenty of players are defined by their best partnership) but what a peak it was. Incredibly exciting to watch and lethal.

At one point Ronaldo more or less became one. He was giving a free role but Rooney would be the one dropping back in midfield, leaving nancy boy to spearhead the line. A fake number 9 if you like, in the same vain as Messi now. I've always rated Ibrah as a better player. He's looked class & scored goals wherever he's went. Even at Barca where the system didn't suit him, Ibrah scored a lot of goals, over 20 I think. Ibrah doesn't need a system built completely around getting the best out of him, with one of the best midfielders of all time to supplying him constantly to score for fun.Comment
