The fans have turned on him since Rafa has come in. When Di Matteo was playing him and he was **** they were not vocal about it.

Thing is though, Benitez was brought in to get the best out of Torres as I think on record Torres said that he was the best coach he's ever worked with.

Now, I didn't watch the game the other night but by all accounts it didn't seem that Torres put much of a shift in.

Putting everything aside, he's on a massive wage and whether he's happy or not he should be giving it his all.

I still have a major soft spot for Torres but I'm starting to think he's the real villain in all this palava.

anyway, it's not for us to worry about.

Rumour in the papers today that he wants to return to LFC.

I'll see if I can find a link or two.

It will be sneered upon but that guy Neil Ashton is said to be the best connected Chelsea reporter.

That ship has sailed. Unless we got him for £5m and £30k a week, or something ludicrous, it will not and should not happen.

Torres keeps telling his team-mates he'd rather be back at Liverpool and the old guard are fuming... the inside story on how the sun is setting on the era at Chelsea

              I was thinking the same.

Which year are the accounts for? 2011/12?

              Transfer revenue: £27,139,200
              Transfer expenditures: £91,388,000
              Net: £-64,248,800

              If it's 2010/11:

              Transfer revenue: £14,520,000
              Transfer expenditures: £111,320,000
              Net: £-96,800,000

              Can't be 2012/13, Shirley?

              But they are currently:

              Transfer revenue: £22,396,000
              Transfer expenditures: £101,376,000
              Net: £-78,980,000

I haven't double checked the figures, so not 100% and whatnot, but it's from TransferMarkt, which lists Sturridge as £13.2m ...

                I'd take him for £5m - worth a punt I guess

How about a swap for Carroll? Straight swap and Torres gets the same salary AC is on?
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I wasn't aware about Ashton. I assumed it was bull**** with the lack of quotes but of course Torres is never going to come out and say that he wants a return. Interesting though if Ashton is well connected.

Agree about the second part too. I don't really want him back at all unless he was dirt cheap. And that wouldn't be the case.

Lets bring him home....he will fire us into the top 4 this season if he comes. And Anfield has really missed the 'bounce'.

PS - I am getting very sentimental.

We'd just be swapping one **** footballer for another. Take what we can get for him in the summer and spend it on a proper player.

I highly doubt we'll ever see him back at Anfield and tbh do we even need him?

I used to want him back. But now I dont think I do. He is not good enough anymore

                            Closure for me right there.
                            *Except Michael, who died.

Footballers who used to be absolutely amazing don't just go to being complete garbage, it's never happened before.

Sure there are anomalies who have one great season and never hit those heights again, but I can't honestly think of one player who has had such high peaks and chasm like troughs. He must still have the ability and its hidden under layers and layers of mental issues and confidence problems.

I would take him back admittedly.
