Scrapping the League Cup altogether would allow a couple of Premier league matches to move to their early round midweek slots. Which would mean less PL fixture congestion around Xmas/New Year.
Won’t happen obviously for money and sponsorship reasons, but other than that, there is no real need for 2 domestic cup competitions..
