About time the league cup was axed for all teams in Europe and the FA Cup was optional

I wouldn't go that far. The cups are a good breeding ground for kids and that looks exactly how we are treating them. Or at least until the finals come around.

I agree......we are crippled with injuries right now and our potential cup team is actually v strong + the youngsters

Scrapping the League Cup altogether would allow a couple of Premier league matches to move to their early round midweek slots. Which would mean less PL fixture congestion around Xmas/New Year.

Won’t happen obviously for money and sponsorship reasons, but other than that, there is no real need for 2 domestic cup competitions.

At the very least, if a team is competing in the Club World Cup then they should be excused from the League Cup.
