interesting - for me i have slightly the other way round

i think sterling is a classy little player - he plays with his head up and keeps the ball moving with quick short passes a lot more than people give him credit for

Ibe, is more direct, pace/power - it's probably only his physical attributes that would see him ahead for me,

this is no criticism of Ibe - just a couple of observations - I was at Sterlings first premier league start...Home early on in the season when all was to play for against Man City! Sterling was outstanding. - I was also at Ibe's first premier league start, home at the end of the season to someone **** in a nothing game, QPR - he struggled a bit, looked nervy, gave it away

either way we've got two unbelievably talented 17 year olds here. Both exciting to watch and are giving me a bit of joy watching liverpool despite the huge dark cloud that is suarez hanging over us.

if we manage them well, which to be fair to Rodgers early signs have been good then it is down to themselves how good they will become. If they knuckle down, work hard and then act in completley the opposite way to Suarez, they'll both be stars.

ideal scenario for me would be too have another top class/winger attacker in the side - someone both sterling and ibe could learn from and then provide competition and cover for

i think it's great that ibe has come through as hopefully they'll push each other further with a bit of friendly competition for places.

        attacking options of

        new person to replace suarez
        sturridge
        coutinho
        Aspas
        sterling
        ibe
        borini

would be very exciting and should be plenty for the season - downing can go.

i'd be looking to give them both 15 or so appearances throughout the season - give them a taste, let them contribute, but don't burn them out

two or three years like that, slowly building them up and integrating them, letting them gain experience and developing - then by time they are 20 - wow

TBF, I thought Sterling was overhyped for our reserves and I thought we had better talents than him. He got better and better though and proved me wrong and I thought he was very impressive last year and has been excellent in pre-season so far.

I have no issues with the fact that you don’t rate him highly BTW, the scenario is just all too familiar with our fans though. Overhype our youth players in the reserves, start a campaign to get them in the first team, expect him to play brilliantly every week, criticise them when they don’t meet these standards, demand they are sold, start the next campaign for some 12 year old who’s scored a hat-trick that week for the Academy. (I’m guilty of it myself BTW)

Obviously there is a case to be made for Ibe being a better player, so perhaps this was a bad example to highlight, but I certainly don’t see how we could expect much more from Raheem and I just can’t see the club demoting him behind Ibe so quickly.

Seems to me that Sterling is trying to play within himself a bit. In that he's not just sprinting up the pitch and taking people on all the time (or quite enough IMO) but trying to be a more mature and clutured player. It may help in the long run, but have your teenage time and mature like Giggs when you're approaching 30!

Ibe is like a young puppy that just wants to run at the full back. Tried a couple of flicks that didn't come off etc. I guess this is all part of finding your way as a young player at a top club. You don't want them trying too hard to impress but also give them enough freedom to express themselves and play to their strengths.

Both look like being good premiership players with potential to be more.

By the way there is a thread in the computing forum where someone has asked your opinion on video editing software.

I don't normally visit that section but I will check it out.

They are similar in style but they at the different points in their careers atm.

Ibe is only 17 and as you said needs to be slowly introduced to the starting rotation.

FA Cup, Capital One and ocassional sub appearances in PL this year would be enough.

Raheem, on the other hand, had the chance to adjust to PL last year and is realistic option for the starting job this season.

If we don't pick up a better winger option I expect to see him play quite regularly.

                Dire. No job.
                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I hope Ibe gets on the bench for the majority of our games, so we can give him some game time when we are in a comforatble lead in games
