Kinda get where you're coming from, we could limp on for the rest of the season but we'll not really improve & it'll just give us more time to slide into mediocrity. Sever quickly & we can be done with him & move on in the right direction. Keeping him on any further will just cause us greater harm IMO.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

IF we could get someone like Klopp in now, I'd rather write off the season for him than Rodgers.

So, if we sack him now, do we have Sean O'Driscoll as interim before we get someone in? If FSG decide to part ways with Rodgers, it will have to be when and if someone else has already being lined up to replace him. No point doing this on a whim, especially taking in mind that FSG has backed him to implement changes during the summer.

I think he will be given at least until December to turn this around, unless there is a riot.
          Are we winning?

Looking back evben further, I would have been giving Brendan the bullet for the pathetic showing against Real Madrid at home, and the "shadow team" he sent out against them at the Bernabeu.

That first game was embarrassing - Liverpool have won the competition 5 times, have a massive European pedigree, one of the most famous clubs in the world, but the way they all behaved was like some non league team welcoming a giant from the top flight, and were just glad to have those boys at Anfield - what an occasion for our players to play against the might Real Madrid! It was meek, there was no aggression, they rolled over. They played for 18 minutes and retreated into the shell - much like the rest of the season went.

Every game is like this recently - we hope for aggression, quick starts, front foot attacking football every game. The reality soon kicks in, seconds after kick off, that another bloodless, mundane, plodding, devoid of energy, passive, safety first mush of blandness is what we're going to get.

What I would give for a first 20 minutes like the Juve quarter final in 05, or the Arsenal game in 13/14.

The lack of urgency is killing me!

Forgetting what we look like when we play football, there is no way that the manager will be sacked after just 5 games considering the investment in the summer

Objectively, neither would I want him to. I don't think he'll be here next season, perhaps not even next year, but the time to get rid was in the summer. He's here for the immediate future IMO, rightly or wrongly
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Sack him too. I wonder if him and Gary Mc are on short term contracts - it would be interesting to see.

This is true. The turgid reality is we're stuck with him - unless he grows some balls either way and goes back to playing attacking, progressive football or realises his ridiculous philosophy is not working and resigns.

It won't happen mate. We are not rationally analysing things, rather speaking from the heart out of frustration. With that in mind, Rodgers will need to turn this around pretty quickly or at least show some definite signs of improvement. He's done it to an extent last year and we were heading in the right direction.

It is hard to even recognise us as the same club. And I agree, those Madrid games were a real low water point.

Whats strange is we have spent more money on the team than we ever did back then, even comparatively, yet we continue to move backwards. The goals of what we should be expecting as a club (and supporters of this club) are being continually down graded.

I think this season is going to be brutal - unless we go on an run where we lose 5-6 on the bounce I just don't see him getting fired. Whatever Brendan says in the boardroom seems to be working when everyone else can see he has lost his way with us.

Yeah I know a sacking won't come before Christmas - it just wouldn't make sense. As for signs of improvement, I think he's running out of tricks. For someone with such an ingrained philosophy, he seems remarkably content to ditch it at the first sign of trouble and wing a formation to cover his own back.

...and the excuses! Oh god the excuses!

For all this talk of philosophy - I don't see one correlating between a formation or playing style and signings to supplement it.

With Rafa (Oops I did it), you could see what he was trying to achieve with most of the signings he made, even if they looked crap on paper. Riera brought balance to the left side for example. You could see him putting his squad together thoughtfully, and within some pretty huge restrictions too (without going into that).

Brendan has everything Rafa didn't. Time. Funds. Owners who back him. Less pressure (because of the downgrading of expectation). He has everything set up for him to make a success of it, but he doesn't have the ability to do it, his methods don't work.

Brendan will be happy looking at ****ty stats like possession in the middle of the park when all the fans can see we aren't creating any worthwhile chances and look mundane and uninspiring.

I can't get over how dreadful we are at home now , been going on for months.

Even the possession stats have dropped off the edge of a cliff. They're the lowest he's ever managed over.
