I'm not in as dark a place with Brendan as I was with Hodgson - nowhere near to be fair - but I do think Rodgers is done and can't / won't turn it round.

Liverpool is a club, or a culture with followers from many different walks of life. And the club is at a point where the majority of supporters are hankering for a regime change to put us out of our misery. The loss of faith is so complete that any victory in our minds prolongs the status quo leaving the supporters in a position where the agony is prolonged. The loss of faith is that complete. The last time we were here having these type of conversations was with Roy, doubt about the direction of the club marked you out as less of a supporter. Its the same is a band you like release an album you hate, or a political party you support take a turn you weren't expecting.

I'll go as far as to say nobody wants to see us lose - its that you suspect we might. You want to go into each game with confidence, but we now have none. You want to win, but you can't see how. Everybody wants to see some potential in the over all picture - but none exists. The only way we get out of this is a change of manager and the only way the manager loses his job... Well - I'll leave you to fill in the blanks.

We the support, have lost faith in that - so we are waiting for the hammer to fall, for the guillotine to come down. The thing is wanting us to lose, or not, doesn't really change any of that. What will be will be, and it will only be when he receives some abuse from the home support that it is likely to materialise in anyway that affects the team. From what we have seen over the last 20 games the manager and the regime are on its last legs. Change will follow some point soon no doubt, because the manager currently has no support from the people that love the club.

All that left is to watch the game tonight, see what unfolds, enjoy the fact that Lovren isn't playing and hope we win (its good to be in Europe all season whoever the manager is).
Good post that, I agree. I'm not at the Hodgson stage with him, but I can't enjoy what I'm watching just now, which isn't much fun. I can't see me whooping with delight and phoning people up like I did when Hodgson was sacked - I'll feel relieved though.

People want us to lose for this reason:

Rodgers isn't good enough to win us anything. If he stays in charge this season we will achieve nothing. The quicker we get a new manager in the better chance we have of having a decent season. The only way it's going to happen quickly is if we lose games.

I know exactly what is going to happen. We will keep getting just enough results to keep his head above the water but not enough to stop the general malaise. I think this season will drift away to nothing and in the summer he will get the sack.

Now I don't know about all you lot, but I really can't be bothered waiting for the inevitable. If I was given the choice of us losing the next three games and him getting the sack I'd take that right now. I wouldn't even have to think about it.

Because I'd rather suffer for three games than a whole season.
            Forwards.......

But then you'll realise they have no idea who to appoint & are batting their eyelids at Nigel Pearson.

Perhaps, but let it play out as it will. Supporting the team and wanting them to win is a basic requirement as a fan.

I've said plenty of times that BR has this season and if he doesn't hit his targets then he's going to be looking for a new job.

Look, I'm just pissed off because it's all so blindingly obvious. Come kick off tonight I'll be cheering us on to win and unlike some on here I actually like Rodgers. I don't see all these small issues with what he says.

Tbh, he could say anything if we were winning and I wouldn't care less. He could also say everything perfectly but if we are losing I'd still be annoyed. I'm like that, bit old school in that I don't care for all the circus bull**** that so many seem to care about these days.

As for worrying about the replacement...... Well he isn't right so if we switched to someone else there's no guarantees but at least you're taking a chance.

It's like getting a total of 12 in a pontoon card game. You could stick on twelve but you know the dealer will beat you with his two cards. If you ask for a card you may get a value of ten and go bust, but better to do that than stick with 12 knowing you'll fail.
                    Forwards.......

Exactly Dannyman, the rationale is short term pain for long term gain, I don't think it's that hard to understand. Presumably Harv & chums are of the belief that losing 3-5 games or whatever will ultimately mean we pick up more than persisting with the dying demagogue that is Brendog & stand us in better stead for next season & thereafter.

Everyone wants this team to win. Everyone also wants this team to win trophies. I'm taking the long term look and I'm convinced we will win nothing under this manager. Accepting him as someone I'd like to stay in charge is therefore, for me, accepting failure.

I don't get all this five games clap trap. He's had over three years now, not five games. And he can never settle on a formation or set of tactics that will work. He buys players in the summer and then changes mid season.

He then tries to force players into positions because he doesn't have a player suitable for his new formation. It's ridiculous.

Well put, my sentiments exactly, been that way for almost a year for me. We'll never succeed with him, he needs to go back to a mid table club.
