Is he called Hodgson because it certainly sounds like him, especially this one:

I actually accept that quote. If we lose a game all guns blazing then so be it. We will always lose some games, even if we were the best team in the world. But those last two games were disgraceful.

What I can't accept is crowing for more time after a big change of players. West H are going through a transformation and they hammered us 3-0. Plus the reason we've had whose sale changes is because we were so ****e last year under him.
        Forwards.......

I have to say, I know not everyone on here agrees, but I fundamentally disagree with him playing the youngsters/fringe players at this moment in time in the EL. Firstly, I believe we're in crisis. I think he needs to use the EL to find a right balance and combination (especially CB). If he's going to insist on skrtel/lovren partnership, then he'll be gone by the end of the month.

Secondly, winning the EL, is a back door to the CL.

You could argue that if there is a genuine problem in the first XI (rather than just a need for them to gel and understand what he wants of them) then an experimental team for this game is the right option. As always a balance probably needs to be struck but we can take this game seriously whilst making a good number of changes to our team.

Main concern is CB. If he's going to use sakho/toure in PL games, then fair enough, but he won't. He'll go back to skrtel/lovren and every game will be an uphill battle.

                  It seems to me that:
                  a) this is pre-judging Rodgers slightly unfailrly when the past suggests he has changed his mind on several occasions when things haven't been working

                  and

                  b) if true then it doesn't really matter what we do in this game. Either we play a dysfunctional team or an experimental one - neither of which maximises our chances of winning or learning anything

completely agree but my main concern is our midfield. it is the core of the team that just isn't working as there is no clue how to set the midfield up.

Rodgers denied that his selection policy was disrespectful to Europe’s second tier competition and insisted that the team he fields is capable of beating the Ligue 1 outfit.

“My approach is the same as the first season when I came in when we played players who were needing games, but some young players as well,” said Rodgers.

“We did it back then when we were first in the Europa League and we finished top of the group and qualified. That’s the objective again.

“I’ll pick a team to win the game. We have a lot of games coming up over the next couple of months and I have every confidence that every team I put out for every game is capable of winning.”

If only we shared his confidence. Perhaps he might want to have a rethink?

We have had a full pre season to work with new players but they probably need more time to understand the vision Rodgers has. We have been trying to figure this out in his 3 seasons here so the players especially the new ones aren't going to figure it out in 3 months.

Also funnily enough the vision / identity of the football could be set by a sporting director. Maybe he does need one.

I thought Brodgers HAD a vision, when he was signed - a thick book of ideas.
I thought HE in his position was to have the vision - and bring it onto the players.

WHEN he i quoted saying this - then he surely gives players from elsewhere a lot of reason NOT to sign for Liverpool, because it is all caotic, non-directional in tactic and vision of how to play.

These quotes will follow Liverpool as long as Rodgers is here - if things are not settled very fast and the team gels, starts playing well and winning.

How about reverting back to Skrtel/Sakho? I'd rather they had as many games together to build that understanding.

Also, Dan makes a good point above about the midfield. We still haven't found the right balance and this could have been a good opportunity to try something different with the Milner/Lucas/Can combo.
