Thanjk you.

I was probably one of the first to criticize him, and last night he was very good indeed.
He needs to keep that up now, he's shown he can do it, so there is no excuse in our next game if he starts to bomb forward, or try to get too involved in the play.
I think he's realised he needs to do what Lucas does and, effectively, be part of a back 3 when we're attacking. And just plug that gap when we haven't got the ball and play it out wide or simple.
He got a bollocking last night, when he had that shot in the first 10-15 mins that went just over, so he must have been told not to leave his position.
Probably get slated for this but I still saw a few worrying signs from him last night in terms of playing in that DM role. He gave possession away very cheaply a couple of times. He just takes too many risks with his passing for someone playing so deep. It's nothing he can't iron out of his game if he stays disciplined, but I hope it doesn't cost us crucial goals in the mean time.

I think those risky passes are something he's used to being able to perform, as he normally plays further up the field. He showed more maturity playing in that DM role last night, and it he can continue to be disciplined and, like you say, cut out the risky passes I think he could be important for us in that role.
I was totally against him playing DM until last night, but then he showed us all he can do it.

I don't think he can or will iron it out completely. He does however moderate his style depending on who is next to him. At the minute you get the feeling he doesn't much trust the CBs or other midfielders.

On reflection, Everton were rubbish last night. Hopefully Gerrard can grow into the role though, as it looks like we are not in for anyone to cover that position. A mistake, if you ask me. Games against the Mancs and Arsenal are where it will matter from Gerrard. fingers crossed though
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
Gerrard had a great game yesterday and as said, he's still one of the best finishers we have, threat on the box.
We played bit different yesterday and Henderson was also sitting quite deep which made Gerrrard's job easier. I am little bit worried about this experiment but when we use the same tactics as against Eeverton, it might work.
Was anyone else listening to TalkSport this morning? Some bloke from Birmingham phoned in to Colin Murray's show in response to the theme of players you love that you ought to hate or something like that. This bloke said that his wife had a flower shop in Birmingham. Basically the story goes that Gerrard was driving along a road and he spots an elderly lady who has collapsed on the pavement. He phones for an ambulance and sits with her until the ambulance arrives. She goes off for treatment at the hospital and Gerrard and his Missus call in at a florist and pay for a bouquet of flowers to be sent to the lady who collapsed in the street.

he was going to be the biggest liability as a DM ever...
wtf is going on
i dont see him playing as a true DM though. he is sliding into the back line and becoming an extra CB when needed, next he is like an extra LB.
with no fixed position he is just mopping up and snuffing out the oppo play anywhere around our box. his intelligence is making up for his lack of pace. being a bit deeper is allowing him time to read the play, see the runs, and then step in and cut it out.
great from gerrard, inspired form brendan.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
