It'd cost a tiny percentage of the amount of money that's in the game and would ensure you could market a clean sport.
I mean it from an anti-doping point of view as well, I think the club should have a responsibility to ensure that their players are clean. I don't like talking about players as assets, but from a club point of view it seems like a sensible way to protect your investments as well as fulfil your responsibilities regarding anti-doping.

But the club also doing regular tests is a bit mother doesn't trust you.
I get what you are saying about trust but players are well rewarded for playing football and fitness and lifestyle are very important, it seems crazy to me that clubs don't do this, presumably they do a drug test players when they undergo a medical to sign I don't see why they don't maintain it throughout their contract. Surely as athletes they expect to be tested, I don't see why it matters who is doing the testing.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

        this.

Not long to wait now anyway. I think as a club we've handled this as well as we could, the player hasn't been hung out to dry and we've escaped unwanted criticism by not playing him.

Yes but it happens within many other working roles.

It is not being accusatory towards players but protecting your own investment surely?

Why worry about it if you're clean?

Hmmm, that to me is a bit like the Government monitoring phone calls and saying 'if you do nothing wrong you have nothing to hide'

I think treating players like children is probably the wrong move. We dont really know the full facts here either. Just a lot of guess work. His B sample could return negative.

Random testing from the PL or UEFA is the best way to regulate IMO. Keeps everyone on their toes without making them feel like untrustworthy kids.

For me its a zero sum game. He either did it or he did not, if he did it, as Carra says and he knows a lot more about what is involved in being a professional footballer, he let himself down.

If you are a professional athlete involved in a sport which is regulated by WADA, he has to know what is going into his body at all times and if its on the no no list or not. This is probally why so many footballers do hippy crack because I would wager thats not on the banned list

sakho's playing his best football for the club and gets positively tested for performances enhancing substances. might be a coincidence and a nothing story. might just as well be the reason for the good form he's in.
