He is under contract to 2020 which for Sakho could be a personal financial disaster, the club will not just shrug this off - he'll be sued for breach of contract and FSG will want as much of the outstanding balance of the current deal recovered as possible.

...so essentially, anything over a six month ban will bring the curtain down on his Liverpool career then. Even at six months, I can't see the club not coming for him financially... is he considered an important enough player that the club would still stand by him for the lesser ban?

The B sample was always going to be the same as the A sample in any case.

Not necessarily - the MMA fighter Mirko Cro Cop failed a drugs test and admitted taking steroids before retiring.

Only for his B sample to come back negative, obviously the ban stood because he actually admitted doing it.

It was obviously an anomaly but there is always that chance.
