Unbelievable strength, steps across players as though they're not there, good in the air and composed on the ball - always prefers to slide one into midfield than belt it up the pitch. He's played 3 games in 3 different positions so far - he's going to be a mainstay for us.

Needs a bit more composure on the ball but he's looking very good.

He isn't a left back, not in a million years but he's very left sided so I can't see him pairing up with Agger unless it is in a back 3.

Yeah and I'm not saying drop Agger wholesale just that he is another along with Skrtel and Reina who were pivotal in us finishing 7th and 8th.

He was at fault for the Southampton goal so currently Toure, Skrtel and Sakho are playing better so leave him out.
      It's really that simple.

Competition for places is good for everyone

Agreed - re the VC I just think it's one of a few indicators of how highly Rodgers rates him. I suspect he will try to shoehorn both into the same side but I wouldn't lose any sleep over Agger being benched for a bit. In a four Skrtel/Toure alongside Sakho looks our best bet for now, although I do think 3-4-1-2 suits our personnel best at the moment.

I would actually try to play Agger as a DM. He is great on the ball, breaking up play and make many attacking runs.

          ---------------Lucas------Agger------
          ---------------------Gerrard----------

Will of course never happen but it would be interesting to see.

amazed i've read a few people on facebook slagging him off

ok ok - call me a cunt for slating Aspas so early on, but Sakho how can you have a go

he has at least contributed, played well, looks solid in the air...

the only issues i've seen with him have been he looks a bit shaky and rash at times, however i am convinced this down to a bit of nerves and a bit of lack of premiership sharpness...

however according to some, £15m players aren't allowed to have nerves or be a bit of the pace in a new league, having played in three different positions

            - yes i am aware that the same arguments could be used to defend Aspas

i think it'll defo be a back three - i'd say all fully fit our best team would look like

              --------------------mignolet------------------

              ------------toure-----agger-----sakho-----------

              Johnson---------lucas------gerrard-----------enrique

              ----------------------Coutinho-------------------

              -----------------Suarez-----------Sturridge

which i think looks pretty good and what is very encouraging is i've left out three players who are in form and prob should be starting, that cover defence/midfield/attack

              Skrtel
              Henderson
              Moses

with those three we have good options to cover each area,

and then on top of that we have further cover/other options in
              Kelly
              Wisdom
              Cissokho
              Allen
              Sterling
              Ibe

all decent enough players to come in - and Ilori/Alberto/Aspas in the squad as well

as i've maintained all along i'm still confident if we get and keep the key 9 or so players fit and playing in as many league games as possible we will do well

I wouldn't be surprised or lose any sleep if Agger left in the January window or in the summer.

The new contract was to protect ourselves, as Rodgers says signing Sakho and Ilori sets us up at CB for the next 10 years.
One of Skrtel or Agger will leave, the only reason imo it didn't happen this summer was Coates' knee injury.

I'm not saying force Agger out but if he loves the club as much as he professes then he'll be happy on the bench if the ones picked ahead of him deserve it on merit.
Easy to say you love the club when you're an automatic pick regardless of form or fitness.

He absolutely petrifies me every time he gets the ball, looks so uncomfortable and nervous. Any team watching our current back line in possession will surely push high and pressure us. Weird when Skrtel looks the most composed

In saying that he really has been thrown in at the deep end, is lacking match fitness & will take time to get to grips with the pace of the league etc. Early days and hopefully improves with time and experience.

On a positive note he's strong in the air and in the tackle, won't get bullied.

It will be interesting to see what Brendan does when everyone is fit.

On Arn's point about Agger playing DM.cant see it ever happening but it would be interesting to see the results.

Very interesting point about Agger playing at DM, is he mobile enough though?

I'd have though so judging by his marauding runs forward from time to time?

I mean from the point of view of covering across the line & closing spaces down. Obviously he has a lovely left foot and is very progressive.

I was just referring to his speed in covering the ground so yeah it would be interesting. I doubt we'll see it though. Maybe if we're 3or 4 up sometime soon BR may give him a crack.

If we had to press a centrehalf into defensive midfielder service, I'd go for Ilori. He's played there recently, has the youthfulness to be moulded into it and has the (bags of) recovery pace to rely on.

But I agree with what everyone's saying, that a back three seems the way to go. It's a formation which can help bring in younger centrehalves better than a standard back four.
I wear my heart on my profile name.

have to agree with this. he looks very wobbly, and anyone pressing him just steps up to him knowing he cannot play the ball to any standard with his right foot. shocking. even worse than enrique for being one footed

i have said before about the possibility of us playing a back three and it didnt seem popular with the animals
i also mentioned that agger would make a decent job of the DM position. maybe kolo too.
