He did....though he did hesitate to put the ball in when he found himself out there. Think it was just a case of him not seeing the right ball to put in, which is fair enough, as he does like to retain the ball, but good players can usually do a job anywhere.
Think Lallana lacks the pace to play the role full-time, especially against tougher opposition, but its nice to see we can move around when needed. Credit to Rodgers.

We've found Gerrard's replacement, who'd have thunk it

You can see he's desperate to be in the thick of it. If anything, it highlights his tactical awareness to almost stifle that part of his game for the benefit of the defence and the team. Every now and then he has a wander and he understandably had a few moments after switching to the left (and wasn't helped by Markovic at all).

If we can get our next centre back purchase right, I look forward to seeing him in the middle of the park. And he's only a yoof ... a great buy.

            21. ****ing hell he is going to be an amazing player for us, actually some would say he already is. Can do the lot, very Gerrardesque, just need him to push on and let some fly from distance.

Heard it said he had a good game midweek in midfield. I didn't think so. Has a lot to do to prove his worth as a regular starter in midfield.

Agree. The only position he has proved himself in is right centrehalf in a back three. I'd rather keep him in defense since he pushes up as an ancillary midfielder often during the game anyway. I think it's easier (and cheaper) to find another midfielder who can offer the a similar set of skills than to find another defender who can play it out of defense as he can.

Worry slightly he's being overplayed at the moment. After we get Burnley out of the way I'd rest him until the Swansea game.

He is getting a lot of games right now I agree, but unlike say Henderson and Sterling he didn't feature much in the first half of the season so should hopefully have some reserves in him.

Right now he seems vital to our defense and especially playing it out a bit.

He's looking a little leggy but when we get back to a game a week he'll be fine. So important having a player at the back comfortable at bringing the ball into midfield. If he wants a bit of breather then he doesn't have to make those lung bursting runs into the opposition box... they're a bonus, not a prerequisite.

He's a real box to box type isn't he. So impressed with this lad. New country, new league, new every bloody thing & he's slotted in so well. Incredible talent.

Yeah he definitely could do with a rest. Hugely talented but don't want to burn the kid out.

In Brendog I trust. He'll be monitoring it.

I thought he was poor in midweek

The whole of our midfield was poor against Besiktas imo

I think Can will end up in midfield but I dont think he wont be a holding player / defensive midfielder
