Meste (vice president): "Luis Suarez had a release clause at Liverpool of £75M. After negotiations, we in the end paid £65M."
Mestre (vice president): "Paid £65M when release clause was £75M? For two reasons: good negotiations by our people and Luis' wish to join."

Would you have reacted the same if he were still playing for us?

Why? Bans don't normally extend to friendlies do they?
                Oh I don't know.

Jut wait until he is out of favour at Barca and some other club shows an interest. He'll be munching on somebody quicker than a tramp on chips.

We need to protect other footballers from scum like him. Lads out there trying to earn a living don't need to be put in danger by allowing him to be playing in the middle of a ban.

Seriously though, whatever about the ridiculous stadium/training ban that FIFA levelled plus the severity of length (that's a whole other story), a playing ban regardless of level of game should be enforced absolute. Might let them away with training pitch games behind closed doors, but I think a showpiece season-opening near-sellout is not in the spirit of the original ban's intent, and probably pushes CAS' reading of the revised verdict, albeit not overstepping it.

It's immaterial anyway, but what benefit a 10min runout, where he barely touched the ball, had in the return from a ban which still has over 2 months to run seems purely based in extra-curricular interest rather than maintaining a player's match fitness.

Well he only started formally training at the end of last week.
                            Oh I don't know.
