I suspect they are still interviewing everyone, consulting lip readers and any other interested parties before deciding whether to charge (find guilty) or not.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostGood point. Haven't heard word one about this. Does this mean it's not even on the radar?Oh I don't know.

Don't know about that. Firmino came to the leage with a good reputation and he seems to get plaudits for his play and work ethic. The only ones in the media that tend to write him off are the pundits that are generally seen as being crap at their own jobs......guys like Murphy, Merson, Shearer, McManaman, and the like.
Just looking at our team, I think Robertson get underrated far more than Firmino by pundits and by fans of other teams. Although I guess a lot of that would be down to many not knowing who he is, I know before he joined us I knew very little about the guy and never expected a left back that would hit the ground running and to such a standard..
Mane and Salah also get a fair bit of it as well. To some numpties, Salah is still nothing more than Chelsea reject enjoying a streaky spell

Quite possibly, yeah. Complete media silence about it though, for what would be a high profile incident with significant interest. Odd.Originally posted by dom9 View PostI suspect they are still interviewing everyone, consulting lip readers and any other interested parties before deciding whether to charge (find guilty) or not.
There will always be individuals who feel like being a numpty by ignoring brilliance in people like Mane and Salah, but overall they are well received and lauded for their achievements. They've just come back from an awards ceremony lest we forget!Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostDon't know about that. Firmino is different though. He doesn't score the big figures someone like Kane does, so doesn't immediately strike people as brilliant, and a lot of his best work goes unnoticed to the casual viewer and highlights only types. As a result, people quite broadly think he's alright but not much more than that. Even some of our own fans. I'm struggling to think of anyone more underrated in this league tbh.Like blood on iron

A lot of that could be down to people not seeing him as a goal getting forward before this season though.
His goal getting for us the previous two seasons was him finish each season as roughly a 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 man in all comps, and as fans of other clubs would not watch all our games they would not see the work rate, the skill etc., and really only have goals per games to go on.
I still wonder what he would be like as a support striker for us, or if we had someone in the team that allowed Firmino to switch directly with for the striker and support striker roles without having to bring Salah and Mane into the mix.
He had this in his second to last season at Schalke and was used as a support striker/AM that season and he just flourished in the role.
In my head someone like Fekir would be ideal for this as, like Firmino, Fekir can play in AM, as a support striker or as the main striker, and he exels at interchanging with other attackers.
Would give us that extra attacker when we are going hard at teams, and also give us that extra spark of creativity when we need to break teams down, whilst still having a balance to the team.
And would allow Firmino even more freedom on the pitch knowing that if he dropped deep then Fekir would be moving forward to fill the space left by Firmino, and as Fekir can also play on the flanks he could cover there is a winger moved into where Firmino had been.
Plus it would gove us that bit more cover if one from Firmino, Mane, or Salah got injured. Fekir would take the spot of the injured player, and one from Chamberlain or Lallana could slot in where Fekir would normally play.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I have it on good authority that the FA are still "work in progress" in removing their heads from their arses but have stated that one day in the next millennium they are reasonably confident that one of them may get a day's work done.

Aye, I can imagine them all standing around deliberating that scenario & agreeing on a course of disciplinary action Monty Python style!Originally posted by Snigger View PostI have it on good authority that the FA are still "work in progress" in removing their heads from their arses but have stated that one day in the next millennium they are reasonably confident that one of them may get a day's work done.

Bobby doesnt get the plaudits as a striker because he really isnt.
he is the epitome of the false 9, one of our central attacking cogs, but they all overlap so much.
I bet his heat map would be far more spread out than any other "front man"Last edited by baitman; 15-01-18, 05:46 PM.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
