He was brilliant against Arsenal in that position when we smashed them.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostI'm glad I'm not the only one would understands where Coutinho should play in the best set up, his work from deep playing on the flank is very good but most people will always have him at the No 10 - obviously he can play there but he is a better transition player if you have goal scoring options taking the front three positions (obviously that's something we can barely remember at this point)Was muß, das muß.

Left side of a diamond. Played it against Arsenal (5-1) and he was immense but has never really played it again. People doubt his battling qualities but they need only look at that game. Move him forward and he's too close to most of the attacking movement to deliver those quality through balls plus he thinks he needs to belt everything he gets in and around the box. Move him back and he has loads of movement ahead of him to pick out and he's also a goal threat coming from deep.Originally posted by kemm1 View PostIn a midfield 2?

Firmino is better as a No.10 for me than Coutinho, and the latter is better in a central midfield 3 (either in a 4-3-3, or a 4-4-2 diamond, where there are 3 in the centre, and a 4th midfielder playing more advanced).
Not sure how things will work with both in the side long term, because Klopp likes a 4-2-3-1, and Firmino can play in the 3, and as the 1, whereas Coutinho's best position, or role, isn't in that system.

Since we can't count on Sturridge too much, mine would be:Originally posted by redmike65 View PostThis is the player I was expecting once he'd got used to the league, and it's without Sturridge!

Coutinho prompting from a deeper position.I wear my heart on my profile name.

I see the perspective but I would say he should be a part of a top 3 in a 4-3-3 or in a 3 behind the main striker of a 4-3-1. Klopp dosent play a diamond and I think we need two solid center mids. The main thing Rafa got right was targeting quality central midfielders early on, we don't have any right now.Originally posted by G View PostLeft side of a diamond. Most thought it was ludicrous back then too, Just goes to show how quick people can say silly things if a lad isn't Messi from his first game. Sorry Spud!Originally posted by Buzzo View Post

No need really ?
Brendan was still in charge - I think we were all pretty frustrated back then.
I can guarantee Teixeira will get the same if he takes his time too.
