There is a bit after he says "puta" that is obscured by Kenny

He's clearly saying something at this point and this is when Holgate reacts. However Kenny is stood right next to Firmino and doesn't react and the referee is also between Holgate and Firmino and I am sure if he had heard anything vaguely racist he would have sent Firmino off. Later the ref is talking to Holgate and says he didn't hear it and says the same to the 4th official

If it drags into next week post all the games, I'd be a little concerned..

If as the Mirror was stating last night, it was all cleared up at HT, then the ref would have been informed of such and would be reflected in his match report considering his consultation with the 4th official. Whatever the initial claim was should be reported fair enough, but also it's potential misunderstanding and that should be the end of the matter.

If there's an allegation of racial abuse, then it's a free for all.......Kick It Out will be weighing in of course, more than likely before any word comes from the FA

Do you mean post the FA cup games today and tomorrow? Because IMO it almost certainly will, because the FA will need to investigate and that won't even start until Monday at the earliest.

If it has been cleared up then some statement should be made indicating that as letting people speculate or a few days on something that is established to be baseless harms the reputations of players and clubs.

Aye....say by the middle of the week. Ref report has to formally go back, review of the weekend's events etc

But they also can't let it linger too long.....especially if it's completely baseless

In the bit that is obscured, the ref's face is less than a foot away from firmino's face. My interpretation of events that followed are he goes over to the 4th official to say holgate has accused firmino of racism and did he hear or see anything because he personally didn't and the result of that conversation was obviously no otherwise Firmino would have been sent off.

How the FA choose to play this is unknown as I wouldn't put it past them to twist things because it's us.

Regardless of what Firmino says, how does Holgate not get booked for a two handed shove? He pushed him over the advertising boards on purpose. Could not be more clear

Is the inference that Firmino had said something BEFORE the push?

It would be irony of the highest order if after the Brewster interview it is us that get done in a racist comment situation.
Not that I think he said anything racist but Suarez was done on no video or audio evidence.

Suarez admitted using language, but he argued about the context in which it was used.

If Firmino admits to using language that could be perceived to be racist, then he's in trouble. Otherwise, he should be fine.

I would also assume he is asking the 4th official if he heard anything, presumably over the referee's mic. The ref's microphone does go to the 4th official's earpiece right? so it is possible that if something was said and the referee didn't hear it the 4th official may have heard it that way. Presumably as Firmino didn't get sent off neither the referee nor the 4th official heard anything.

Yup, this is it. Clearly Holgate says something to the ref and Madley says he didn't hear it while gesticulating as such. So there is an accusation on the table and we'll hear more from it next week.

Madley then flaps and forgets the original incident which caused it all or doesn't want to book a player alleging racism. Either outcome is extremely unsavoury.

I don't think so, if you watch the video, Holgate seems to react at the end of Firmino shouting at him after the push, while Firmino is shouting at him Holgate is just facing him up, at the end of the shouting Holgate's reaction intensifies and he starts grabbing/pushing the referee. I would be very surprised if it's at any point other than this that the incident occurs.

I suspect the referee bottled punishment for Holgate because he was worried that booking or sending someone off whilst making an allegation of racism wouldn't look good for him as a referee. (Presumably he can say he was focusing on handling a more serious allegation and the FA would be more forgiving of missing the foul than him cocking up the handling of an allegation of racism.)

The crazy thing is, we didn’t even get a free kick for the push. The game restarted with a throw in!

The FA will conclude that there isn't enough evidence to charge Firmino with racist abuse and then he'll unfairly have a question mark left hanging over him. They might dish out a ban for aggressive behaviour just because they're cunts like that. Holgate will get off without even a warning.

So the Ref has included the incident in his report.

Not that that means anything either way till we know what exactly he's 'included'.
