As mentioned in the match thread. At one point he won a header on the halfway line and Lallana latched onto it and we broke. In seeing this Tekkers just jogged (at best) forward staying well behind the play, and by the time we were in a position to cross he was approaching the D. This is no one else's fault but his. His lack of desire is utterly inexcusable as it is the absolute least we should expect from him. Effort. He is a ridiculously poor signing for a number of reasons, but he is a lazy ******* too, and that's on him.

Exactly I dont get the excuses for him

Crosses will look ****e if your attacker is 10-20 yards behind the play all the time

I will say again, we have crossed the ball in games and he either isnt in the box / isnt on the end of them

Our set piece delivery is poor but again he seems to be static waiting for the ball to come and hit him on the head like an Exocet missile

He was only on the pitch tonight for 25 mins and wasn't great but we should really be talking about others aswell that where a hell of alot worse than him tonight. He's a goner in the summer, we decided not to buy any other striker in the window and we'll have to live with that.

It's 50/50. Sturridge would have as he is top class. Ings and Origi where never meant to be anything other than squad players. And I think the general consensus is that the service is bad. We play one up top and the width in the side is left to Clyne & Moreno... both of whom are entirely ****e at crossing a football. So we have a statue and players who can't cross a ball, good combo. I doubt many would disagree with me

It's 50/50. Sturridge would have as he is top class. Ings and Origi where never meant to be anything other than squad players. And I think the general consensus is that the service is bad. We play one up top and the width in the side is left to Clyne & Moreno... both of whom are entirely ****e at crossing a football. I doubt many would disagree with me

I dont even think its 50/50

Ings and Origi have desire, they get into the box. If you are in it you tend to get rewarded, if you attack the ball even poor crosses you might make something of it

You have no ****ing chance of scoring if the ball is played into the box and you are stood 10 yards outside of it, or if the ball is played across the 6 yard box and you are stood hands on hips 10 yards behind

Moreno and Clyne are poor at crossing the ball but its a total misnomer to say they are providing all our width

Benteke, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho dont threaten the box enough, they dont gamble enough

As a striker you dont stand stationary waiting for the perfect cross to come in. You go to meet the cross / attack the ball but before you even consider that you have to keep up with play and get in the box not jog around as though you have bagged a hattrick

Problem with Benteke is the lack of effort. Yes, our style of play is not ideal for him. But it is not like he cannot put in a shift. If you cannot score at least make yourself a nuisance for the defenders, get into positions.

He'll miss a few but, as I said, I'd rather have that than what we are doing at the moment which is basically relying on midfielders to rifle in long rangers* and/or the opposition defence to make a mistake.

Last night that cameo was Benteke in a microcosm

Him holding the ball up on the halfway line and giving it to a team mate whilst jogging towards the box as the play moves 30-40 yards ahead of him up the pitch
