Today he was better, in terms of his overall contribution but the bar was so low it really wasn't difficult for him to do that. In front of goal he was very poor again, confidence plays some part but its no excuse for his lack of movement or dumb running offside, I don't think he's cut out for the top level. In fact he's the same at international level, he got found out there and his form has carried over to us.

It was a step up, I'm not disputing that. Its the equivalent of stepping from the gutter to the curb though.

His time at Villa is irrelevant, they literally whipped balls into the box at the earliest opportunity and we're never going to play that way. In a more progressive side that retain possession pushing defences deeper (Belgium) he hasn't been able to cut it, the exact same thing has happened here.

He seems like a nice guy (probably too nice) but at the end of the day we needed a striker to hang our hat on and unfortunately its not him.. As for if he'll be here next season, I'm not certain, our striker options are a mess and it could go one of a few ways come the summer.

I like Benteke, but he has been a flop so far at LFC. I do think he can't play as a lone striker and playing him in that role consistently is not doing him or us any favours.

He seems to be very timid and very heskyish in mentality, he's just too nice. Big man that should be bouncing CB's out of the way but jut doesn't do it. He will be judged on goals at the end of the season. His approach play improved tonight but his end product is shocking in this moment. His confidence looks shot to ****, he is hesitating to shoot, he is hesitating to move into dangerous areas in the box. I wouldn't say he's the smartest footballer around and his positional play does raise some questions but I do feel that a complete lack of confidence is playing a big role in him failing here. Obviosuly though that's no good to us.

I would like to see him played up top alongside Sturridge for a few games.
