How is a loan better than £29m and no wages to pay?

Perhaps we would need to make a big payoff in the transfer offers on the table (if for instance Palace want to pay him less) and the loan is for all wages + a decent fee? A successful loan might also raise his eventual transfer value."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

The wage bill isn't bottomless though and he's one of the top earners, something like £120k pw.Originally posted by Alex View PostWho cares though? Not my money. As long as we are signing the players we need it doesnt matter does it?
It'll matter if we have to pass up on a top player because the required wages are being wasted on a surplus player.Last edited by Mark79; 01-08-16, 03:36 PM..

The point is this... he is on 6.25 million a year... if he is entitled to a full payoff... that mwans paying him 26 million to leave. Are we even going to make this back through a fee? He also cost 30 million. We have written back 1 year of 5, leaving 24 million as his value. So we could make an in year loss of 30 odd million even if we do recoup his 24 million book value. Loaning him out could net us a loan fee and pay his wages so we could almost breakeven in year. With FFP this stuff does matterIn the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Most contracts have a max period (say one year) notice period upon receipt of an offer, if wages are below then Liverpool would make up the diff etc. If he was being binned off, no club, he gets his contract last paid up or at least paid over the period of time he's employed. Obv if he requests to g he forgoes bonuses etc, etc.I make no apologies, this is me

Thats if he requests. Sounds like hes a bit pissed off with Klopp though.Originally posted by Deano View PostMost contracts have a max period (say one year) notice period upon receipt of an offer, if wages are below then Liverpool would make up the diff etc. If he was being binned off, no club, he gets his contract last paid up or at least paid over the period of time he's employed. True Balotelli was in the same position.
Just goes to show the ridiculous sums we were paying to & for mediocrity. Things have not changed in that respect... I think we all winced at the pricetags for the likes of Carroll, Balotelli and Benteke.
Although I cant fault this years purchases. Seems like every player is at least very decent on paper. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I don’t contribute a lot on these forums but I have to say, I don’t totally agree with this statement………. I agree we may have all “winced” with the above prices but , the price tags were only excessive based on the way things panned out at Anfield.
In no particular order, Benteke was (is) a good player, international for a top ranking team and was knocking em in for a crap team like Villa. Given Palace are offering somewhere around the value we paid (give or take) I am not sure he was so overvalued.
Balotelli! What was it, £16M? OK, with hindsight we possibly (do) all think he was a bad buy but I bet most of us also thought, maybe, just maybe he will work out. So, he didn’t and the gamble didn’t pay off.
As for Carol, as I get older my memory fades but if I am not mistaken, we (LFC) missed or were caught out by the last minute Torres to CFC and so we had to do something. Had we not, a lot of the £50M for Torres may well have gone straight on the bottom line as profit and may well have incurred a tax liability. I may be wrong but, had CFC paid £60M for Torres, we could well have paid more for Carol! We just needed someone and he was an England International and knocking them in for the Barcodes!
The club have not (IMHO) done everything right but, I think we can be a little harsh sometimes.Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but does not actually get you anywhere.

At worst LFC will probably have to make up the difference between his LFC wages and those at a new club for the remainder of his LFC contract
I suspect that our contracts are a little tighter though on this as the owners seem more savvyBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
