The senior squad didn’t get significant time off/rest. Recovering from injury and then working back to form and fitness isn’t recharging your batteries. Meanwhile, the seniors who didn’t pick up injuries were still featuring 2/3 times every week with minimal/no rotation, even during that spell where the youngsters plugged in the gaps..

I think the issue is we don't have players who are capable of the game management seeing the game out approach, the subs have done well previously because they have come on needing to win games, by getting another goal. the Spurs and Villa games are probably the only ones we have been in the position of needing to see the game out and both times we have been poorOriginally posted by danperkins View PostSubs and squad players have worked out very well for us up until about a month ago. Since then, some poor in game decisions from Klopp have been made. Last night making those subs ****ed us.
He's done and unfortunately it's been such an anti climax end to his tenure, I think everyone just wants it to be over at this stage. The fella looks absolutely ****ed and needs out.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

fair post. We certainly do lack the mentality to see games out no doubts, just as we lack pace and physicality to get us over the line in major competitions. Hopefully both are addressed in the summer.

Back in the CL and a trophy to boot.
Think most would have taken that in a heartbeat if offered it last August.
However in the more myopic and emotional here and now after the Villa game, we imo let a great chance to win the title slip away and I genuinely do think that we bottled it once we got the injured senior players back.
Do think that a number of senior players let the manager, team and themselves down badly when it was still in our own hands.
Talking senior players like VVD, TAA, Salah, and Diaz. When we needed the seniors to come back and to ride the wave the squaddies and younger players created, they instead huffed, puffed and looked disinterested at times.
Have left Robertson off that little list because I think regardless of being rusty and a bit off the pace in some games, his effort never dropped below 100%.
A lot of the younger players and newer players I would give a pass too as well as most of them gave their all and a lack of consistency is to be expe3cted more in their cases whereas the seniors are the ones we wanted to come back in and show why they get lauded as being world class and also to be the steady hands to guide the younger players.
Guys like Nunez can be knocked all people want to knock them, but the majority of our most knocked players are ones that whilst they might not have excelled like we hoped, they rarely if ever hid and rarely put in stroll about the place performances.
Think a few players are lucky Klopp is leaving because the final home game would be an ideal time for a manager to lay a marker down to some of the under peformers and let them sit on the bench for that final home game.
I would be delighted to see a back line of Bradley, Quansah, Konate and one from Gomez or Robertson against Wolves. Won't happen but the work horses would deserve the reward of starting the final home game for me.
Would apply the same logic to other parts of the team.
Any noses out of joint afterwards. Tell them to have their agents talk to Edwards and his team so they can go continue playing at retirement pace in some other team.
The more I think about it, the more cashing in on two, three or even four big names makes sense. Use the big fees to allow the new manager to bring in some starting quality players to put with the willing workers and great young talents we already have.
If we end up with VVD (who said he is looking forward to the new manager but did not mention staying beyond his final 12 months), TAA and Salah all just winding down their final 12 months then next seasons risks being one where all three look after themselves first and foremost to protect their next move and we then have to wait a full season before having an even bigger rebuild the next season.
Going to have to calm this attitude down a bit before the weekend though, otherwise my trip to Liverpool might end up with a pitch side arrest
agree completely with this Jaco....
Good season from where we started last August.
A pile of ****e since the Anfield result against Man City. Mentality monsters no more.
