We had 7 clean sheets in 11 in all competitions before things went to **** against Southampton. Even earlier in the season, we were defending well, but still conceding, often as a result of a mistake or a single shot on target. Think the problem is more psychological than to do with ability. Maybe this would have improved a better defender coming in, but individually our back 4 are more than decent and should be capable of defending much better than we have recently.Originally posted by Fredo View PostThe whole team defends, not just the defenders. It's simplistic to think otherwise. As for us not having cover, when Klavan deputised for Matip we were doing fine for a lot of games. Don't think it's an issue. Issue is, as ever, consistency. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

So it's Klopp's fault, not the owners?Originally posted by Davidburrowseyebrows View PostWenger does this. How long did he wait for a top keeper? In the meantime they won nowt.I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Possibly yes. Possibly not. I get the impression that klopp is stubborn like wenger. I like the idea of playing youngsters. There should certainly be a route for them to come through. But whilst you do this, your rivals are buying the finished article and winning things. Being an arsenal fan must be like groundhog day every season. I don't want us to follow suit. Maybe I'm wrong and klopp is itching to sign players. I'm going by a few comments he himself has made.Originally posted by Fierce View PostSo it's Klopp's fault, not the owners?
Basically in a must have world, I'm sick of ****ing waiting. I'll admit it. I want it all now. Where as I don't think it's ever coming.

We now know we now have one of the best first elevens in the league. We also now know that we have the weakest bench of the teams near the top. That second part has been obvious to us all since the beginning of the season, so January has been frustrating but surely not a surprise. Even Klopp said it would take more than one close season. If this summer he can maintain the quality of the first 11 but make the bench better and bigger we will
(a) be more consistent because we will be able to rest players and ride injuries, losses of form and African cups; and
(b) have a proper Plan B.
I agree that means the end of Sturridge, Lucas, Moreno, Millner at left back, dodgy goalkeepers and probably a number of those we think of as youngsters and fringe players.Last edited by Paul12; 03-02-17, 08:48 PM.

He just isn't getting the diversity needed. He's never had this level of competition to deal with and is being shown up, as is Pep. Everyone can beat everyone in this league, the competition is on a different level to Germany. That coupled with the low ambition recruitment from both Klopp and FSG is ****ing us up again. This isn't the bundesliga

He's hardly getting shown up. Some repeat mistakes are annoying and we are in a rut but shown up, no. Just like Poch wasn't when Spurs won 1 in 10 games earlier in the season. Bad spells happen, though it's time to snap out of it! We'll be 1 point off our supposed target at worst after this weekend and on track for our second highest points total in 8 years. Not exactly anything to celebrate but progress all the same.

I like his system and his quick tempo style of play (which has disappeared recently)
But he made mistakes in not getting more players in
