        So, what do people make of the latest Klopp retirement talk, following answers he gave after receiving Manager of the Year at the Sport Bild Awards?

        “In the order I would like to do it. First national team, then Bayern, then back to BVB and then Liverpool for life,” he said.

        “I have no idea [though], I really do not know that.

        “I hope for now that the next two or three years will continue in the same way. And then I will decide that.”

        Klopp said fans should not be surprised if he decides he wants to leave the game altogether.

        “Everything is possible. So just that I stop completely, is just possible,” he added.

        “Whether that is the case or not – I really do not know.

        “I’m just saying that so you will not be surprised when it happens.”

          What does he mean by that? In the order he'd like to do what?

          “In the order I would like to do it. First national team, then Bayern, then back to BVB and then Liverpool for life,” he said.
          Is he talking about his dream scenario of jobs?

          For a start I'm amazed - assuming I'm reading this right - he claims to have any interest in the Bayern job.

          The idea of him leaving, ever, is enormously depressing ffs

            He got turned down by Bayern before hasn't he?

            Also spoke of retiring young to have a normal life.

            I think his headspace is just on the current team/contract and he'll reassess when it's closer to expiring.

            Will be horrible to lose him whilst the core of our current team will be in their 30's needing replacing.

              It's quite likely we've only got 3 more seasons of him (including this one). Whilst that's horrific really and incredibly sad it really is a case of making the most of every match / week / month.

              Hopefully it will be a bit longer than that but 5 more seasons is probably the absolute maximum - unless all of our brilliant young players coming through really changes his mind. Does sound from that though that he is interested in the Bayern job which is strange in many ways - especially with them stealing all of his players from BVB.

              Can see him as national manager though especially in his 'dotage' and he has always said he wants to quit completely before he's too old - won't be doing a Hodgson any time soon.

                From what I gather having watched the Anfield Wrap video this afternoon, and a Redmen TV video, he was asked a question on his preference, with those four options provided. No one so far seems sure on the translation bit regarding Liverpool for life.

                  Its like your wife telling you she will leave you in three years, maybe.

                  I hope he is just throwing ideas out, he does talk a lot. Will he ever get conditions as good as he has here?

                  It's all too depressing to contemplate I guess we enjoy him whilst we have him.

                    I'm not emotionally attached to any of our players these days, but man he's a different question altogether

                      I get the feeling football will play a smaller role in my life when he leaves.

                          This is the thing, technically, we only have this season and next to enjoy.

                          If he wants to leave, we're going to have to look at replacements, and little murmurs about the future will surface. Imagine if we get to the end of January 2021, and he hasn't signed a new deal? He'd have 18 months left, and I don't think the club would want to leave it until the summer of 2021, with 12 months left. Then again, they might.

                            Bayern could out spend us. And he'd walk the league with them and rack up titles. We have city to contend with domestically.

                            Seems keen on the national squad as well and that'd be ideal for him as its pretty much a part time gig.

                              I envy not in any moods
                              The captive void of noble rage,
                              The linnet born within the cage,
                              That never knew the summer woods:

                              I envy not the beast that takes
                              His license in the field of time,
                              Unfetter'd by the sense of crime,
                              To whom a conscience never wakes;

                              Nor, what may count itself as blest,
                              The heart that never plighted troth
                              But stagnates in the weeds of sloth;
                              Nor any want-begotten rest.

                              I hold it true, whate'er befall;
                              I feel it, when I sorrow most;
                              'Tis better to have loved and lost
                              Than never to have loved at all.

                              Now read the thing again slowly and lookup words you don't know, like troth (loyalty) and see yourself and us and the great great Klopp in this there legendary poem.

                                Alfred Lord Tennyson, In Memoriam. It is legendary, but I've always thought of it as one of the most self indulgent pieces of crap ever written. It's about Tennyson's grief at the loss of his 'chum' (or secret lover) Hallam, who suddenly died of a brain haemorrhage, I think in India. The whole poem is the length of a book, which if I recall took him nearly two decades to write.

                                Not sure it's that appropriate to us. We will move on, Klopp isn't dead and as far as I know he is not a fan's secret lover.
                                Really?
