I wonder if that ship has already sailed, adding more uncertainty into the equation. I thought it was basically a done deal in summer, so I wonder if he's holding off to see how the Mo situation plays out.Originally posted by Angryred View PostProbably better to get Mane's contract out of the way first? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yep, if I were in his shoes... Do the same myselfOriginally posted by RedReet View PostI wonder if that ship has already sailed, adding more uncertainty into the equation. Bump.
I see he is once again getting flak in other threads, yet The Athletic rates him as in the top ten players in the League and I know opposition managers spend a lit of time trying to keep him under control because he is viewed as as big a threat as Mo - and less predictable because of his movement, his starting positions and so on. Very important member of our team.

As above.
He's still good, by most others standards. But by the standards he set himself over past seasons, he's nowhere near. He misses way too many chances to be considered one of the best. He's lucky our system creates so much and we have another guy on the opposite side that finishes most of his.
His touch has never been good, his finishing has always been patchy, but his pace and element of surprise (sometimes by having such a bad first touch
) often gets him out of trouble. But his constant running and drive adds a lot to the team, he's always there lingering in dangerous spots.
His pace looks like its on the way out to me though. Ever since covid struck he seems to have lost that real burst to take it away from people that he used to have.
As good as he can be, if we could get a younger, faster, smarter, more composed forward then i'd definitely consider selling him whilst his value would be high. I don't think he's good enough technically to play until he's in his mid 30's and has lost his main weapons - pace and power. Mo on the other hand is."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

That's it exactly. By the standards of almost every other wide attacker/winger in the league he is right up there. His goal and assist return is always matching or beating almost all of the rest.
Put in in almost any other team in the league with his numbers and he would be getting lauded. Is just with us we happen to have a curly haired chap on the other wing who is probably the best in the world and everyone else looks average to poor by comparison.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Exactly, so would be good to see a bit more appreciation of the good rather than constantly highlighting the perceived bad.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostThat's it exactly. All day long.
(And when he leaves and observes that some fansites gave him unfair criticism, no doubt you'll say he is a wuss.)
