I’ve only ever heard £100k pw reported. Ox gets around £120k & never plays. It’s a slap in the face imo. & we should have upped his contract 12 months ago to show him the love.

And if it turns out to be true that last summmer he and his agent said they were not interested in discussing a new contract back then as is rumoured?

Do we blame the club for not giving a new contract to someone who said he did not wish to disuss one?

Don't think there is much blame to go around in this one at all.

Mane has been a model pro for us and if he wants a new challenge with a huge payrise and can get it by etting his out his contract run down to reduce the transfer fee, then that is his call.

If the club knows that is what he is going to do and decide to let him do so and not try to force a transfer onto him earlier duer to having got good service from him ( and having his replacement brought in) then fair enough.


We are most likely going to have the same sort of thing with Salah next summer (minus the incoming transfer fee) though maybe an arguement could be made that we have, like we did with Mane, brought in Salah's relacement early too in Nunez. Not in a positional sense but maybe we see Nunez as the man to replace Salah's goals and Nunez gets a seasn to settle with Salah still here.

His contract will also be heavily incentivised above that basic number, meaning he will end up earning way more than the other players mentioned.

Sadio Mané’s move to Bayern Munich is edging closer after a delegation from the German club headed for face-to-face talks with Liverpool.

The Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is leading the party in an attempt to agree a deal for the 30-year-old striker having already seen two bids rejected.

Liverpool turned down an opening gambit of £25 million and then rebuffed an improved offer of £30 million, which was made up of a guaranteed fee of £23.5 million and £6.5 million in add-ons.

A three-year contract has been prepared for Mané by Bayern and, in order for the bonuses to reach £30 million, they would have needed to win the Bundesliga title every season the player is there. Mané would also have had to win the Ballon d’Or in each of the next three seasons.

That offer was deemed laughable, yet the fact that Liverpool are seemingly prepared to meet Salihamidzic indicates a willingness to proceed with matters.

Liverpool are seeking around £42.5 million for Mané, who has one year remaining on his contract but wants a new challenge in his career after six successful seasons at Anfield.

Mané was Jürgen Klopp’s first major signing in the summer of 2016 when joining from Southampton for £34 million and has been central to Liverpool’s revival in the seasons since. There had been an expectation that discussions on a new contract would take place this summer, but Bayern’s interest has turned the head of Mané to make his departure inevitable.

Klopp’s side have spent and initial £64 million on Darwin Núñez, with another £21 million linked to add-ons, £5 million on Fábio Carvalho and have agreed a £4 million fee for Calvin Ramsay, the Aberdeen right back.

In addition to the departure of Mané, Liverpool also expect Takumi Minamino to leave with Monaco and Lyon interested.

I heard this the other day (and it really puts it into perspective) but we signed Mane when he was 24 Mo too.

We've really had their best years (although I think Mo will stay now Mane has gone ) and can have no complaints at all really.

I read this as "me too" and saw you joined in 07, doubt you were 15 then, so don't think that really stacks up

I'm more disappointed about losing Mane than Salah but if he wants to go, he wants to go. We've already signed a replacement. We'll recover the costs paid, actually make a profit and he'll go down as a great signing. As with Salah, even if he goes for free at the end of his contract, he's been fantastic value for the club.

We signed him for 32m, got 6 years out of him (maybe another 25-30m in wages??) and sold him for 10m profit.......

All-in-all, that is good transfer business for LFC all round.

I think my favourite goal is his first against Bayern. The long ball from Virg, the instant control, the slightest of pauses to fool Neuer, the turn and then the dink.
