Same here but from a playing pov. I think his runs from midfield along with how good he is at playing one twos with advanced players will see him and Firmino link up extremely well.

Throw in the possibility of still getting Fekir and that would make three players up the centre of the team that excel in clever short passing and all with theability to beat a player with a clever bit of skill or a dribble.

Those comments on Keita's instagram page from Asian fans; does he have such a tattoo?

Ie "Why do you tattoo Rising Sun flag on your arm? Rising Sun flag is connected with ****ing war crimes. You are very ignorant. This is likely to praise the Nazi."

      EDIT: He does. Sack him

Their point is he's ignorant of what it means in Asia. Right or wrong, but nobody's suggesting he's a Nazi.

:edit: I didn't read any of the supporting info. Sorry for venturing forth an ill-informed view that was a bit of guess.

Jesus, It's a bit of a stretch that a Guinean lad is carrying a symbol of Japanese imperialism. It's now widely used as a symbol of good health and luck in Japan (a more likely cause), just like the swastika has a different meaning on Hindu houses, etc.

Or just cos its a pretty pattern, innit.

Maybe it has a different meaning in Guinean culture which these Asian's are unaware of? Who cares?

Why has everybody got to try and take offence all the time?

Because some people are morally superior to us. It is good that we have them to police our behaviour.

I mean yeah some people can be oversensitive, but let's not pretend no symbols can ever be offensive to anyone. If someone finds it offensive I'd prefer to hear their argument as to why rather than take some sort of default extreme position one way or another.

I separately asked a Japanese friend and another friend from Korea about it and I get the impression there does seem to be some reasonable cause for being offended by it, with it being widely reviled in some places and there still being mixed opinion within Japan as you get with the confed flag in the US for instance. Whether that should mean Keita ought be harangued about it is obviously another thing because, you know, let's not throw the Baby Keith out with the bath water etc. Equally, let's not get so offended by people getting offended

I dont mind being educated, but its the false outrage and condescension that makes it impossible to discuss any issues in a calm sensitive manner.

If anyone can take offence at anything, being offended no longer has any meaning.

I think most rational people know it is highly unlikely he is a nazi.

Maybe he loves Japan and thought it looked cool. People get the british flag tatooed and we have hardly had a strife free history.

Where has the false outrage been vented? I havent seen any particularly.

I don’t think however it’s unreasonable if the outrage has come from Japanese people as it’s something they perhaps would rather not seen co-opted and turned into tattoos. I don’t know and can’t speak for them as I’m not Japanese however

Yeah, I've never noticed any either. Maybe it's quite inconspicuous. (Or not even there at all!)

Impression I get is that their neighbouring countries with whom they have warring histories are more likely to take offence. I suspect if Naby does have a tat of it, then just as you and someone else have said, it's likely he's just thought it cool and co-opted it without being aware of any or the nuance / connotations associated with it. Difficult to avoid that a lot of the time, although I've always thought there are enough stupid tats around that anyone should be doing some proper research on the design before permanently marking their body with it

I had a colleague who used to ashamedly hide a tat he got whilst in Australia with friends - the southern cross I think it was called. Apparently it's a bit bogan or something maybe our antipodean friends can enlighten us?
