Rumours today about Klopp sanctioning a 10m hit on losing him to Dortmund or Munich. I call international bull****.

look I’m not going to deny I’m not disappointed and slightly concerned but all those factors must be considered although the language one still irks me....!
It says a lot for how well we have done when arguably our marquee signing has barely contributed

Waaay too early to be writing him off unless he's been acting like a cunt around Melwood. Was muComment

Yeah I think they only way he'd leave is if he simply can't settle in here and he's not happy. Struggling to learn the language is such a big deal. It's not just not being able to chat to teammates, you'd be feel so isolated in general. It won't be anything to do with footballing reasons.
No way I can see us giving up on him yet though. We'd give him time and do anything we could to get him settled here. He's had a disrupted first season. Could easily click for him at any point and he has the potential to be brilliant for us.Comment

I agree. On the language front though, it can't be dismissed that he's had two years to learn it and can barely speak a word so it's doubtful that'll change. From accounts it was the same in Germany as well which is why him and Mane are close.Yeah I think they only way he'd leave is if he simply can't settle in here and he's not happy. Yeah I must admit it's disappointing. He's barely learned a word. The club are so thorough when recruiting players that you'd think it would have been a red flag before signing him?
Surely just by living in a country for a year you pick up enough language to get by? He must live in complete isolation. I suppose when you're a millionaire you can do that (get people to do everything for you).
Anyway I've long said we should be patient with him, but we don't see his day to day behaviour and attitude and if (and it's purely speculation) he's not trying his absolute best to settle, then Klopp might well want to bomb him out as it sets a bad example to the others.Comment

I'm guessing that some people just can't learn a language and I don't think it's a complete prerequisite to becoming a success either, like I said he ripped it up in Germany without speaking the language there either.
My concern with Keita is he doesn't seem to have a big family base like Firmino has or Coutinho did.
I'm picturing Keita looking forlornly out the window at Mane's gaff of an evening.Comment

Would make sense to sell him to Germany while his stock is still high. He may well come good, but he may not and it's a fair chunk of cash that could be put towards a replacement, maybe one with fewer unknowns, eg a PL player. But continuing to bed him in would also be a valid choice.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 yearsComment

I'll maybe look for it later, but I read an interesting article last summer about the importance of learning the native language and embracing the new culture. Basically said that the likelihood of a player being able to perform on the pitch is directly linked to his ability to learn the new language off it. Hardly that surprising, but he did say that there is only one known case of a player who didn't learn English, but was still a success (Tevez?).I'm guessing that some people just can't learn a language and I don't think it's a complete prerequisite to becoming a success either, like I said he ripped it up in Germany without speaking the language there either.
