Think someone said that he'd been out for 5 weeks then played two full 90 minute international games followed by the Leicester game. Probably felt his hamstring. Pity because he looked good against Leicester (we probably played better when he was in midfield).

He needs to bin off the internationals & Guinea to go **** themselves as they are not looking after him with their need to play him all the time regardless of what condition his fitness is at!
He needs to remember where his priorities are if he wants a future at Liverpool as we would have made sure that he had another contract signed by now.

It’s a difficult one - Naby was super robust when at RBL.....played all the time and rarely injured. He got a bad one vs Barca last year and since then has been mismanaged at international level which has led to a litany of niggly injuries

You have to think from his perspective being a world recognizable player from Guinea and given the route most of these lads make to be pro footballers they are very loyal to their country. He would have grown up playing on crap pitches, no football boots and gone to Europe at a very young age. The mental strength of these lads (Naby, Mane, Salah) to make it in Europe given their humble beginnings is inspirational. They are super proud to represent their country and give back so much to their local communities.

It’s the amateur nature of the national set up that ****s us though - he is being flogged to death rather than been allowed to build up his tolerance to playing again. Going from one of the most scientific clubs to amateurville Guinea - it’s Klopp than needs to have a word or we supply the amount of mins he can play etc

These guys are legends in their countries and will never put club before country.
If their national team set up is tin pot then the player will be made to play even if in a wheelchair, it's a joke and certainly not helping the poor shmucks who pay his wages.

He won't be here much longer then. No point keeping around someone that puts country before club to their detriment. He either needs to grow a pair and tell them when he's physically unable to play or ship out. Which is a shame as there's a quality player in there, we just barely get to see it because he's always crocked.

This is what gets to me, the coaches are European and they definitely know better but don't care. I think their current coach is French and the previous one Belgian. Obviously they're under huge pressure to field big players, but still.

Indeed, Matip is German for me, just played for Cameroon. A lot of the best 'African' footballers are born and have lived in Europe for the entire lives, they just happen to have an African (grand)parent. Most times it allows them to get into international football quicker/easier. I doubt Aubameyang for example knows much about Gabon and is planning to settle there when he hangs up his boots

Really? Whilst I don't have any time for international football personally, many players have said they put international football first. If we signed Zidane in his prime and felt France was more important should we have sold him? Should the coaching staff conduct a survey asking the players a series of questions on their opinions on international football then sell anyone who has national patriotism?

You conveniently left out the final few words which were key to that sentence. "To their detriment". Ive got no problem players playing for their country. But when they are continually made to play half injured, or basically run ragged every time they play then they should be speaking up and clubs (who pay their astronomical wages) should get a say in this. Like this international break just past. He has just started training again after they crocked him last break...and he's made to go out there and run around on a **** pitch for 90 minutes in the heat twice in a week. Guinea have form with this, they've mouthed off about us not wanting him to go before haven't they?
