Probably not a popular view but if we could nab him back for about £70m I'd bring him back. He'd play less than before, cos we're more solid and more productive points / wins wise without him, but if he did come back he'd slot straight back in, no upheaval or dramas, everyone knows him, he's well liked, he knows us and how we play etc.

I'm not normally big on 'going back' but I think I'd prefer him than gambling on someone like Bruno Fernandes or whoever. Could be a seamless move, and it's easy to forget how good he was for us.

If, and its a big IF...

he wouldnt replace mane on the left wing.
Hes just too easy to read and class defenders would stop him cutting in for that right foot shot.

He could replace Wijnaldum in midfield, when he was on form he was good at tackling and helping to press, but he often went missing and didnt put the graft in.

Would he play as a 10...
Firmino isnt a 'proper' striker and really he already fills the 10 role.

For me he could be an attacking CM option in games against teams we'd stuff anyway, and top quality back up should Mane get injured. Still worry we don't have enough quality in reserve. Think that's the difference between us and City. They carry 6 or 7 top quality attacking players, we don't.

You could argue that's exactly what Shaqiri does, and he gets hardly any action, but we surely need to beef up our options.

Nah, we've moved on and we're much better for it. Shootinho had his moments and scored some belting goals, but i just can't see him coming back and seamlessly slotting in.

We do lack someone to fire in a scud missile from 30 yards though...

I'd have him back definitely. He'd actually be my perfect signing in terms of slotting into the team seamlessly. We're more solid now but back in the Fab Four days, we were at our attacking best. It's scary to think what we could do now with added Fabinho, Keita, Alisson and Gomez (centre-back).

If not Coutinho, then a very similar player is what we need.

I really couldnt care less who we sign to be honest. Which I've absolutely never felt as a Liverpool fan for 25 years. Its absurd. 100% trust in whoever they think we should get.

He’d need to bin his weasel agent Joorabchin and apologise to everyone in the squad. Then I’d take him back - he’s a quality player and you can’t have enough of them

He's absolute quality, the fact he hasn't been great playing completely out of position at a very weird-vibe Barca team means nothing to me. Would still be the best midfielder at the club.
The fact that he's a sleazy liar rat is more of a problem though. Don't know if we could trust him not to pull the same **** and try to force a move to City or whatever two years after his return.

But we've been after quite a few players who've done the same to other clubs, so...
