do you think klopp doesnt think he has adapted yet to playing in a three?Originally posted by rudedog View PostI don't think Fabinho could be trusted to start against City - the games he started previously he's taken about 30 minutes to settle and get up to speed and has given the ball away in really dangerous positions.

I think he's adapted to playing in a three... but he needs to ease himself into a game at the moment and that wasn't a luxury we could afford last night against a pressing Citeh. As someone's already said, one or two of Fab's wayward passes like the Arsenal game and we could have been 2 down in the first 15 mins...Originally posted by ric.williams View Postdo you think klopp doesnt think he has adapted yet to playing in a three?
He's far better under pressure than both Hendo and Millie once he's at 'game speed' - he controls the pace, looks forward, doesn't constantly go sideways or backwards... definite starter for me from now on.

yes he has played a few wayward passes lately. Ive been impressed with him in general though. We just need keita to show a bit more for the remainder of the seasonOriginally posted by Tribute View PostI think he's adapted to playing in a three... but he needs to ease himself into a game at the moment and that wasn't a luxury we could afford last night against a pressing Citeh. Originally posted by Chris View PostOur goal pretty much started with him being totally at ease when being pressed, little skip by Bernardo I think it was and a lovely pass to Trent. Simple as that but a quality totally lacking when Hendo and Milner are on the pitch, I like them both and both have plenty of qualities but it's a nightmare going to these tough places with 2 midfielders who aren't comfortable in tight spaces or being pressed as we just end up back to Alisson or a defender all the time. What was once upon a time our last resort midfield seems to have become our first choice midfield for the toughest games. Needs sorting for the CL and Man Utd away.
this is absolutely spot on. The 3 lads are great workers but technically not the best. There was a marked difference when Fab came on, that ease and confidence in possession and not panicking and giving the ball away, very same when you compare how VVD is on the ball as oppose to Lovren.
Fabinho has to be a starter in that midfield imo. If anyone was worried about him not handling the pace of the premier league, that game last night was about he fastest tempo you will see & he looked at home in it, wish he started.

City's level had dropped a good bit by the time he was brought on so it's hard to say how he would have stood up to that intense pressure they put us under in the first 20 mins.

That's a **** gameplan! We were battered in the opening half hour and gave the ball away far too much. I hate that passive **** - we have the players to get at them. I don't know why we didn't do it.Originally posted by rudedog View PostI don't think Fabinho could be trusted to start against City - the games he started previously he's taken about 30 minutes to settle and get up to speed and has given the ball away in really dangerous positions.
I'm pretty sure Klopps game plan was to weather the early storm with Milner/Henderson and then bring on Fabinho when City were starting to tire (and less likely to get caught out with a press).

Jeez you should have been a manager.Originally posted by danperkins View PostThey just wanted it that bit more. Our old tactics of going helter skelter would have been amazing as they can't handle teams going at them... their just not used to it.
"Go helter skelter and stick it in the mixer..."Was muß, das muß.
