    Occasionally I tune in to Red Cafe to laugh at the vitriolic nonsense - slightly less vitriolic these days unless they're talking about Ole.

    Anyway they're broadly clueless cunts as you all know, but blow me I've just found a Jota thread from April 2019 and they really rate him (well they did then - he's probably crap now but I didn't read past page 1).

    One enlightened soul even wrote - Jota looks every inch the sort of player that Liverpool will end up signing and then he'll be the new Mane

      I actually read that thread yesterday, and the they seemed to agree that our recruitment is fantastic and they really didn't need this.

        I see your RedCafe and I raise you a BlueMoon:

        I read today somewhere in the meedya that Dog-eared Iota thinks City ought to be fearful at the weekend. I think he would lap up the nonsense that gets trowelled onto and into their heads.
        I think "Dog-eared Iota" may be a new low of internet nicknames

        And then there's this epic rambling stream of consciousness conspiracy theory diarrhea:

        To be honest with you, the whole team are legends;

        a keeper who can invoke the power of god;

        a full back who can fire in a free-kick from the edge of the area who strangely gets plenty of practice of the skill in EVERY match;

        another full back who can seemingly turn himself both invisible AND inaudible to the officials whenever he loses it a bit and throws in the "odd" two footed lunge, snide elbow or foul mouthed verbal assault (but he's just "passionate" though, and he's apparently a "nice boke" off the pitch, so he deserves to be cut a bit of slack by those of us that can see him do these things);

        a midfield general with a trademark shuffle (?) who's entire skill set is "tactical fouling", "taking a dive on the edge of the opponents penalty area" and "recycling the ball to those with a bit of vision" who wins one of the season's player of the year awards;

        a centre forward who scores maybe 10 goals a season, in a good year, sometimes, who's described as a special, special player;

        a couple of wingers who have somehow survived multiple sniper attacks in the majority of the games they play (I've noticed that the sniper, weirdly, only shoots when the wingers enter the penalty area and as it happens during both halves of a match I can only assume that he changes end at half time to get a better shot - just my conspiracy theory);

        the worlds bestest ever player, leader, hero, man, who cannot be described by mere words and who has uniquely unjustly cut down in his prime (another record broken - It's another first);

        etc,etc,etc,etc....;

        all led by the most knowledgeable, most tactically aware, nicest man in football (and possibly the world) who has a killer smile (who doesn't have a borderline personality disorder/schizophrenia triggered by positive or negative reporting/questioning, no no no, he's a nice guy and a top top coach).

        Fcuking legends man.
        What a cesspit

                I doubt it, it's so cringey.

                  How good do we actually think he's going to turn out to be then? Are we talking Salah/Mane levels? Or is this just a red hot streak that will come to an end?

                  For me he's making it all look so easy and he's such a good fit for us stylistically that I think he's going to get about 30 goals this season (all comps) if he stays fit. That would be double what he scored last season, but I think it's achievable.

                    I think this run is unsustainable, but it's a good question about where his 'normal' level is. Trying to think of a player from our past that might be comparable but struggling. Ballamy maybe.

                      I think he could clear 40 in all comps

                        I watched his highlights again and there's an air of Ronaldo-esque superiority in his attitude. He simply knows he's better than nearly everybody on the pitch. Not simply have an idea, but actually and tangibly feels and exploits it.

                        That first run on goal (which was saved) where he feigned to go outside the CB but instead cuts inside, or the studs rolling over the ball so the ball goes over the incoming diving keeper are things I only expect the best players in the world to attempt.

                        He may have blips in his form (apparently he's had them at Wolves) but his mind and skillset are already at the highest level. Like with Mane and Salah I don't think there is anything further for him to 'learn' footballing-wise. Barring Ronaldo-esque set pieces taking or goalkeeping which are not his remit.
                        One tit for another.

                            Bellamy...!!!

                            Bellamy scored 18 goals in 74 games. Not a bad returm, but Jota is already on 7 goals in 10 games with the majority of those coming off the bench.

                            I don't see why we need to look backwards towards his normal level. Salah and Mane, were doing ok, but not pulling up trees before they signed for us. I see players entering into the environment and training at Liverpool and improving beyond recognition. That seems to be what is happening with Jota. He is playing for a team that are on the front foot, and he has fit in seemlessly. I am massively encouraged and the way he is approaching things so far, he can go on to be a top player for us. At 23 years old he can go on to be an absolute star.

                              Not sure about the Ronaldo comparisons but I agree it all looks so easy for him, which is I think what you're getting at BigChief.

                              His first goal reminded me of a Salah goal.

                              His second goal reminded me of a Mane goal.

                              The third goal a Salah type goal again.

                              Crazy really

                                His profile at Wolves was very similar to Mane's at Southampton IMO. A rough diamond, goes through explosive spells and then barren spells. Looks like we're the perfect fit for him and I don't expect many barren spells playing with much better players.
                                If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
