I'm not saying you are wrong but I can't help but feel that there is something not quite right in how we assess player fitness, it seems that the likes of Robertson, Trent and Mane are all passing some fitness metric but look completely out on thir feet from all the football in the last few years. This for me is a big factor in their down term in form for all of them and probably a number of others. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think we are probably aware, but with a barebones squad we just don't have the options available, and a half fit Mane is still probably a better option than Origi, and I imagine with our CB pairing not ideal, changing more of the back line would be suicidal.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI'm not saying you are wrong but I can't help but feel that there is something not quite right in how we assess player fitness, it seems that the likes of Robertson, Trent and Mane are all passing some fitness metric but look completely out on thir feet from all the football in the last few years. Hopefully Mane will get a rest and Jota, Bobby and Salah will play a few games. Didn't help matters with Jota just coming back from injury and Bobby either playing thru injury before that, or picking up a knock just as Jota returned.

I can understand the desire not to change the backline to some extent but how knackered to players like Robertson and TAA have to be before we switch it? Surely the more we play them when they are clearly knacker the worse their performances will be for the rest of the season and there is an increased risk of injury, we have barely seen Tsimikas and Neco had a run of games when TAA was out.Originally posted by Scratch View PostI think we are probably aware, but with a barebones squad we just don't have the options available, and a half fit Mane is still probably a better option than Origi, and I imagine with our CB pairing not ideal, changing more of the back line would be suicidal.

Mane's form means he is barely recognisable as the player from previous years, to be fair he's playing like the ineffective Origi we have seen, we could play Salah, Jota and Firmino, or bring Origi in who actually looked decent in his last run out, or we didn't have to loan Minamino out. At some point your first choice at 70% effectiveness isn't as good an option as a fully fit back up and to me we are at or close to that point with a few players IMOThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
