I'd be happy with him as 4th choice. So good in the air.

Recency bias. Philips has wooden feet at the very top level. Love his effort and grit but at the elite top 4 level the talent just isn't there.Originally posted by Charly View PostYou really think Kabak is better?
No way!!!
Kabak is a better all round player and suits our style of play much better.

I'll be really disappointed if he gets bombed out once VVD and Gomez return, he's been excellent since coming in and all this after being continously written off by many.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. He has grown into the position under the pressure and scrutiny of the footballing world. He heading ability is outstanding, his positional sense gets better each game. Loves a good tackle. His footwork was well below average in the beginning, but now he is much more comfortable on the ball. His passing has improved immensely, this is just down to him, the staff and training with world class passers of the ball day in, day out. He is also a great physical presence in the box when we have a corner, he puts himself about and creates space for others, for example Allisons goalOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostI'd be happy with him as 4th choice. He might be unfashionable, but he gets the job done a little better each game. Continuous improvement, what more can you ask for......
At the very least we should have him on the bench for games. Historically, when we have been protecting a 1 goal advantage and are under the cosh, we have always thrown on an extra defender. Nat is perfect for this job.......
And above all. He. Is. Living. The. Dream.

I was sceptical but yeah think there’s a decent case for keeping him around for another season. As Assman says, he’s a great option to bring on as an extra defender to protect a lead, he’d be cheap, is settled and would provide some degree of stability when we are bringing in a new recruit / seeing how our old guard recover from injury.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Could be a useful option against teams that play with the big front men, where pace isn't as crucial as aerial ability. He'll not be first choice if he stays, but he could have a place in the 25.
But if he wants to move on for guaranteed football, I think there's a few teams in the league who would love a defender like him.

i was thinking something similar. Virgil has made Gomez into a potential worldie but take VVD away and it no way would Gomez be as good.
I'd quiet like to see Virgil and Phillips play together. It would be interesting to see how it goes. Although if rumours are true, then it is likely to be Konate to be here next year

Based on individual stats and team results, Phillips is king. Check out the premier league website.Originally posted by kemm1 View PostRecency bias. Philips has wooden feet at the very top level. Love his effort and grit but at the elite top 4 level the talent just isn't there.

Kabak may have better footwork and passing, but his teams lose a lot. In germany it was even worse for him. I dont thnk.he has proved himself anywhere near good enough. We started to win when Philiips came back into the team.
Can you see Gomez / Williams being a lot stronger during the last few games? Or Kabak / Williams? In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.
