I don't get all of the noise about his performances so far (especially on Twitter)...what is it we need from his next year?

Last season Firmino + Jota + Origi scored 38 goals and got 14 assists (wikipedia) so I would argue we need Firmino + Jota + Nunez to beat that?

Also can Diaz match Mane's levels or if they are expected to be less do we therefore need more from the above players?

He seems to me to be most comfortable wide left, but it looks like we've bought him to play as a number 9.

For Benfica (at least against us) he did all his best work out wide, beating a man and using his pace to get in behind our defence. We have Luis Diaz for that.

I think he will need some time to adapt if we're planning on using him more as a proper number 9 and we might need to be patient.

Until then I wonder if his best performances might be as left of the front three when Diaz doesn't play.

Looking at heat maps from last season, it appears he tends to play through the centre mostly, but drifted left more than he went right and the left wide player for Benfica then either doubling up with him on the left flank or the winger moved in.

Same thing seemed to be happening in the time he was on the pitch during the friendly games too. He seemed to drift to his left more than he did to the right.

Will give backlines a third mobile threat to worry about next season when facing us.

Quite early to say for sure, but it looked like Salah was cutting inside and looking to play off him. I thought the intent in some of the link up play was decent.

Very likely he went more left wing against us as our "weakness" is often perceived as our right back as trent is often busy upfield.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Possibly they did target that side more for that perceived reason, but I meant heat maps of his league form for Benfica as well as CVL games.

Not sure I follow your logic- so you’re saying that if (hypothetically) firmino and Jota don’t score at all, but Nunez were to get 35 goals, it would be a bad season for him, cos the three of them didn’t get 38+ combined?

And if firmino and Jota get 40 between them and Nunez doesn’t score at all, then it’s a good season for him?
                  I don't tip

Well, that’s one way to answer some ridiculous premature criticism.

All his goals have been against just one team.

The way he's playing, he clearly wants out.
