    No, It basically isn't.

Edit - Sorry Harv. That's how it read to me anyway.

That's the same ****ing stat. There's me checking the stats to see all these times he was dispossessed, tackled etc and it turns out it was zero. He misplaced 18 passes, 3 more than MOTM Trent.

He had a bad game, I said he'd a bad game, why is there a need to manipulate stats to make it sound worse?

The only stat that matters is that we won 4-3. Nunez contributed to this win, just like he's played a big part in helping this team overachieve this year compared to most fan's expectations.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

i really like Nunez, ANd will be continually happy of him having games like Saturday as long as we are winning.

Lets be honest even when he has a stinker he normally contributes positeively some how and thats more than can be said for some of our players ( Thinking Trent, Robbo, Jota)

And you look at someone like Haaland. not scoring = normally zero contributiom.

buti am not buying into this his touch will become good or he is going to be better than he currently is. I firmly believe he will never be consistent and will continue to cost us games by missing relatively easy chances but will also win us some scoring worldies.

That's fair enough. You're not alone with that opinion.

I honesty feel he has the tools to be an absolute superstar if he remains injury free and that's not just rose tinted glasses or exaggeration to counter the negative opinions. I still think the Suarez comparassions are more than valid and his current form for Uruguay and clear improvement for us this year is evidence that he's not a one season wonder that hit a purple patch in Portugal. But again, only time will tell.

Quite a typical display. Fluffs a decent chance then sets up Szobo for the settler. Offered more on the right than Mo imo.

Whatever people may think of him, that tackle and assist is outright crazy stuff. His 1 on 1 earlier was pretty bad, but this was insane. No idea what to think myself, I love him but he pisses me off quite frequently. Don't think there's another player like him out there.

He just lacks a bit of guile and composure in front of goal. That 1 on 1 chance was perfect for a little dink over the oncoming keeper, but he just blasted it straight at him.

If he can develop these, he will be a superstar.

It's going to go on all season.. can we lock the thread til June?

It's interesting reading people's opinions on Darwin. For me it's pretty simple, he is never going to be that composed, intelligent striker, cold blooded kinda striker... it's just not him. He is a physical specimen that excels when he plays on pure natural instinct, everything with Nunez is a hundred miles an hour, high octane, helter skelter. Always working, always running always on that edge. The more time he has, usually the worse the outcome it seems. I do think he has improved some aspects of his game but imo people are just going to have to accept him for what he is.

He will score goals but he's also going to be a very frustrating watch on times because he isn't as good technically as people would like and he isn't as composed as people would like and personally I think to a certain extent you either have those or you don't. I still think he can be a very successful striker, he is still young and there is room to improve, maybe not evolve but definitely improve. Whether he is an answer for us long is certainly up for debate. Opinion seems very divided on him, when he scores there seems to rush to say I told you so and when he ****s up there seems a rush to say I told you so. As we've seen already, it's going to be a colorful thread.

He can definitely improve his composure and finishing game even though it’s not natural to him.

Against Sheffield United, a nice dink would have been the finish he needed and he can do that because he did it for benfica against Liverpool but it’s just about getting the decision making right.

I wonder how you improve composure. It should come with experience as composure is about remaining calm under intense pressure. And Nunez plays football in front of people for a living. So he should be improving. And I wonder if instinct is the same as composure. Maybe a natural finisher is a player with composure and the right instinct for the right type of finish in the right place at the right time. Nunez seems to have the position part but I have no idea how you coach anything where he's lacking.

He's also an emotional 110% all the time player which might mitigate against what he needs to be as a 9. I even wonder if he got an injury - and this will happen with age anyway - that knocked a slight edge off his pace whether he would have to be a bit more wily and that composure and finishing would come from that. He's a very enjoyable/frustrating conundrum.
