I think Shearer would have been phenomenal in any era. Kane on steroids in today's game.

Some of the most gifted players in 80's and 90's maybe wouldn't have the discipline for the modern game (Fowler included), but I think Shearer would have had the mentality to go along with the ability and would have thrived under modern coaches. He obviously benefitted from being a dirty ****er in an age when you could get away with it, but like Kane, he knew what he could get away with and would have had a field day with modern refs.

Someone was saying to me today, not sure how true this is, but it makes sense- apparantly his spat with pep was him retaliating to peps antics last season, when he asked Tsimikas if he liked their goal… supposedly Nunez asked him if he liked Trent’s goal. It would have been even better if Nunez got the winner and ran over to ask him, in the moment! Maybe at anfield!

Loads to like about him, but the harsh reality is he's routinely fluffing big chances this season and it's going to be costly eventually.

Suarez done the same. Then look what happened. In all fairness at full tilt and the defender clattering him at the same time…… not the easiest of chances. He continaully makes these runs and getting into position. We are more of a threat with him rather than without him

I've been waiting for him to improve his touch and composure but it's not really happening. At the moment I don't think he's good enough to be a Liverpool number 9.
