My concern, last season, was that Klopp didn’t fancy him or, to put another way, wanted to continue with a ‘false nine’ in Gakpo. Not something I supported but felt it would be better to sell Darwin rather than have him on the bench ie IMO he needed to play to build confidence and allow him to ‘relax’ in front of goal, which seemed unlikely under Klopp. I’m really pleased we’ve seemingly decided to go with a more traditional 9. Nunez also gives us options to change formations eg 4-4-2 (Nunez with Salah or Jota upfront). Or 4-4-1-1 (lots of players could play just behind Nunez).
