I prefer simply adding a 1,2,3 etc prefix to the number. So 19, 29, 39. This also ranks the players at the start of the season.
This works for the ten out field players.The goal keeper then gets some graveyard number in the 80s and 90s.
If you are doubling up on superstar players, then go for double numbers like 99.
