If that clicks then you are looking at an absolute goal fest there.

He is similar to Alisson in that it does not matter if he has a **** moment or a **** 30 minutes or whatever during a games. He has the mental strength to keep going and to want to keep going until something goes right.

Diaz is another in our squad that seems to have that in the locker.

I think Gakpo is the one designed to play in the middle and be the false 9 like Bobby did. Nunez might play there occasionally, but the intent I think is to have options and play different systems for different games.

One of them might not be happy, but if that can shut up some of you that we don’t have options, then that’ll do.

Does anyone else think Darwin's new moustache makes him look like Howard Moon?

Interestingly, Darwin's non penalty expected goals per 90 is up to 0.78 for the season (in the league).

For comparison, Haaland is at 0.79

He didn't have a good game but taking genuine pace off which was the one thing you could see they struggled with was a little odd.

Bizarre decision to sub him off. He is a goal threat and we needed at least three. We were completely toothless after those subs.

We have no game for ages so what the hell was that sub all about? It felt like surrender.

Yeah - Jota I could understand he was anonymous, but Darwin’s pace was at times causing them problems.

85m and we're making excuses for him.

On the evidence of this season we overspent big time on this guy

I think that’s a reasonable conclusion, with the caveat that it’s still premature to make firm judgements.

                              His stats so far:
                              33 games
                              14 goals
                              5 assists

A goal or assist every other game pretty much. No way he's been an unqualified success but given how the team as a whole has struggled I think he's done well. He clearly has lots of potential to improve too.

The fee is another matter though, I don't think it was great negotiating really and we did overpay.

In a badly disjointed team that he is new to, and one in which is often used as a winger, his return and performances have been good enough to see him as one that would thrive in a more stable consistent team.

He is also a guy who fed on crosses and through balls at his old club, and those have been in short supply not to mention when he is being used as a left winger he is not going to be in a position to take advanatge of when we do play a nice ball or cross.

Did we overpay? Well if we sold him in the summer for less than we paid then the answer would be yes or if this season turned out to be as good as it gets, however I reckon it is far too early to say whether or not we overpaid as a better season next season would have us saying very different things about him.

Me I think he will come good in a big way and that he has been good enough this season all things considered. He is certainly not one of the problems the team has.
