It could even be something as a robbery gone tragically wrong. There's a lot of crime in Jamaica. Don't usually strangle someone in a robbery gone wrong but who knows, it could very well be unrelated to cricket or Bob woolmer's job.

It apparently looks likely he knew his killer(s) due to no sign of forced entry etc.

If that is the case I can't think of a motive other than something dodgy related to cricket

          It's tragic.

This is such shocking and tragic news - I have a horrible feeling there will be some kind of team and/or management involvement in this. God I hope I am wrong.

That's exactly what I thought when I first heard. Sincerely hope I'm wrong but for some reason trouble seems to follow the Pakistan cricket team around.

Strikes me that there are outside influences to do with gambling/match fixing running the game over there.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

I don't think this could possibly be true. It's just ridiculous to even contemplate. Certainly don't think it could be anything to do with the team.

If Bob Woolmer knew anything about match fixing or corruption he'd have reported it straight away. He certainly wouldn't have used the information to sell a book as some sources have suggested.
His book was about cricket and playing/coaching in the game. He wouldn't have tainted it with any scandlous speculation.

No-one in the team would do something like this. If the reason is the teams exit from the WC then they are to blame more than Bob

True No-one could question Bob's coaching credentials. He would have prepared them as well or better than any coach in the game. If they don't perform then that is their doing.
The coach can influence tactics in the field, but Pakistan's problems in this world cup were with the bat which is difficult for the coach to influence once the game starts.

I am wondering whether or not it is someone from a betting syndicate who did this. After all, a plan has backfired in my opinion.

Who would have predicted that Ireland vs Zimbabwe would have ended in a draw. Most would have predicted a Zimbabwe win in that game, any money was on Ireland to beat Pakistan, as thats where the big bucks were to win (possibly a Bangladesh/Ireland double??) then Pakistan to beat Zimbabwe. As things stand Pakistan would have gone through on run rate if that had panned out.

Also the wicket against Ireland was the only green wicket to be played on so far in the entire tournament. I reckon people have lost out on loads of money as they betted Pakistan to go through despite their defeat.

Just my conspiracy theory on events.

Regardless its absolutely disgraceful if someone is involved in the murder (as opposed to it potentially being an accident) at best its a unfortunate thing to happen, to someone who has done a great deal for cricket in many countries and especially Pakistan, really put some fighting spirit into the team.

You need a security pass to get access to that floor of that hotel. So the murderer either had a pass or was granted access to that floor by someone with a security pass.

Its obvious Woolmer knew something illegal was going on & was taken out before he could report it to the authorities
