Well, it's a nice enough morning at the moment. However, cloud is starting to build up and it's not impossible the start will be delayed due to the gloom. Rain is expected in London towards the end of day and another day of less than the regulation 90 overs seems likely.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

while we are waiting, how about a song to lift our spirits?
The pitch is showing few signs of wear. However, the ice-cream men will be concerned about the bowlers' follow-throughs which are starting to cut up. Amid tight security, the threatened mole invasion is yet to materialise. Spats should be worn. A gong will sound.

Now you say you're lonely
You cried the long night through
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
I cried a river over you
Now you say you're sorry
For being so untrue
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river
Cause I cried, I cried
I cried a river over you
You drove me,
Nearly drove me out of my head
While you never shed a tear
Remember?
I remember all that you said
Told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me and
Now you say you say love me
Well, just to prove you do
Come on and cry me a river
Cry me a river
cried a river over you
You drove me
Nearly drove me out of my head
While you never shed a tear
Remember?
I remember all that you said
Told me love was to plebeian
Told me you were through with me...
And now, now you say you love me
Well, just to prove you do...
Come on! and cry, cry, cry me a river
Cry me a river...
Cause I cried a river over you
If my pillow could talk
Imagine what it would've said
T'would be a river of tears
I cried in bed
So you can cry me a river
Go ahead now and cry that river
Cause I cried how I cried
A river over you
Thanks.

Thanks. I know it's kind of old-fashioned these days but I just find singing in italics makes it smoother on the ear.

sure, I can't argue with that. I just think its good to spice it up occasionally with some standard type face and some underlining. I may further demonstrate my versatility by doing a number in bold later.

I think you are just trying to look cool. You need to develop your own style rather than just slavishly copying what is fashionable.

I don't follow fashion, fashion follows me.
I am a multi-vocalist, a maverick if you will. I won't be held down by just one style. I like to flex from standard to italic to bold to underline....I also have some special tricks up my sleeve......but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.
Now something that won't apply to today's play (assuming there is any).
One, two, 1-2-3-4
I can see clearly now, the rain has gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It`s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day
It`s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day
I think I can make it now, the pain has gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here ist the rainbow I`ve been praying for
It`s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day
It`s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day
Look all around, there`s nothing but blue sky
Look straight ahead, nothing but blue sky
Thank you very much.

I hope there is play today. Here's a little ditty explaining why.....
A one, and a two, and a 1,2,3,4
I was walkin' down the street
Concentratin' on truckin' right
I heard a dark voice beside of me
And I looked round in a state of fright
I saw four faces one mad
A brother from the gutter
They looked me up and down a bit
And turned to each other
I say
I don't like cricket oh no
I love it
I don't like cricket oh no
I love it
Don't you walk thru my words
You got to show some respect
Don't you walk thru my words
'Cause you ain't heard me out yet
Well he looked down at my silver chain
He said I'll give you one dollar
I said you've got to be jokin' man
It was a present from me Mother
He said I like it I want it
I'll take it off your hands
And you'll be sorry you crossed me
You'd better understand that you're alone
A long way from home
And I say
I don't like reggae no no
I love it
I don't like reggae oh no
I love it
Don't you cramp me style
Don't you queer on me pitch
Don't you walk thru my words
'Cause you ain't heard me out yet
I hurried back to the swimming pool
Sinkin' pina coladas
I heard a dark voice beside me say
Would you like something harder
She said I've got it you want it
My harvest is the best
And if you try it you'll like it
And wallow in a Dreadlock Holiday
And I say
Don't like Jamaica oh no
I love her
Don't like Jamaica oh no
I love her oh yea
Don't you walk thru her words
You got to show some respect
Don't you walk thru her words
'Cause you ain't heard her out yet
I don't like cricket
I love it
I don't like reggae
I love it
Don't like Jamaica
I love her
I'm put together beautifully
Big wet bottle in my fist, big wet rose in my teeth
I'm perfect piece of ass
Like every Californian
So tall I take over the street, with highbeams shining on my back
A wingspan unbelievable I'm a festival, I'm a parade
And all the wine is all for me
And all the wine is all for me
And all the wine is all for me
I'm a birthday candle in a circle of black girls
God is on my side
Cuz I'm the child bride
I'm so sorry but the motorcade will have to go around me this time
Cuz God is on my side
And I'm the child bride
And all the wine is all for me
And all the wine is all for me
And all the wine is all for me
I carry the dollhouse, safe on my shoulders
Through the black city, night lights are on in the corners
And everyone's sleeping upstairs All safe and sound
All safe and sound, I won't the let psychos around
All safe and sound, I won't let the psychos around
I'm in a state, I'm in a state
Nothing can touch us my love
I'm in a state, I'm in a state
Nothing can touch us my love
