Saturday. Bourg-en-Bresse to Le Grand Bornand taking in the first first category climb of this year's Tour, Le Col de la Colombiere.

Sunday, from Le Grand Bornand to Tignes sees the first mountain top finish and has two other first cat. climbs.

By the way, does anyone know when they got rid of the 'Hors Categorie' classification and why?
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Did they ? Wasn't aware of that.

So good week end to start watching the Tour for me.

Better late than never that's for sure.

Sunday should be good. Saturday's probably just going to be part of the wearing down process but of course you never know. That's the beauty of it.

According to my official guide they're listing them as first cat. climbs. Shame, I always liked 'HC' - climbs so tough they can't even be classified!

Been rather busy this week and the time I'm back home usually allows me to watch the last 30/40 kms of each stage so I'd rather start watching it now. As you said previously, it has the hallmarks of a great Tour and it's so much unpredictable at the moment.

A solid hour is pretty good. They're showing a lot more this year on Eurosport. I hope they give us proper time over the weekend and we don't have to put up with the dull **** of motorsport taking over the schedule.

They're showing it on french Eurosport but the hitch is that Richard Virenque is doing the commentaries.

What do they see in him?

Hang on. Can't you just switch to the English commentary? It's much better now David Duffield's cheese reminiscences have been curtailed.

I meant Virenque. I don't think even the French see anything in little fredo.

Kloden has a fractured coccyx and there are doubts whether he'll start today, let alone finish the race.

It's the news we've all been waiting for. I'm tempted to put it in Rashid's "good summer" thread.

                              Damn this rain though.

Kloden starts despite the hairline fracture. Astana sound a lot more confident about Vinokourov's chances of contending the overall than Kloden's.
